Recapping The Oscar’s: I got 15 right, 9 wrong. Of the 9 I got wrong, I’m most happy that a female cinematographer FINALLy won after 98 years. Talk about a truly historic moment. Worst Moment: Best Supporting Actor for an image of Sean Penn, who could not have given less of a fuck. Penn respected his film just enough to not launch into anti-awards tirades, but was absent from the awards campaign, and most ceremonies. For someone to get their third Oscar as an actor, Only 7 actors have EVEr achieved three. Katherine Hepburn, Ingrid Bergman, Jack Nicholson, Meryl Streep, Frances McDormand, Daniel Day-Lewis, and Walter Brennan. Penn is now the 8th in history, and he wasn’t even there for his historical moment. Dear Oscars, please don’t give awards to people who don’t want them. Thanks. By contrast, Conan pointed out Ryan Coogler turned down the invite to become a voting member of the Academy, but the man is still there to support his film, his crew, and his cast. Penn couldn’t bring himself to support his cast, crew, or director.

The Night Agent- If that cliffhanger holds, this show really raised the stakes. Also, I would have loved to see a certain guest star last longer than they did. A waste of a solid talent. The AD here is solid. The little moment with the glove…
Percy Jackson- Percy has to protect camp, and he awakens someone who will either be friend or foe in season 3. Of course, if you know the books, you know. But everyone else has to wait for next season. Also, Zeus is not a good father. Just saying. I have a full review of this.
Ponies- The girls get closer to the truth. The ending of this episode surprised me a little, but I guess she took the whole “we do what we have to do” thing seriously.
I Love LA- If I don’t review the show, my biggest criticism would be that I need the friend group to feel more like an actual friend group. yes, they are irreverent, and pushing boundaries, but FX’s Adults, which did a lot of the same, still made sure to sell you on the idea that this is a collective group of close friends, not just some random people having fun, which is what this feels like sometimes.
The last Thing He Told Me- I’m surprised we did a second season, but I love Jennifer Garner. My only concern is that Apple has pushed several series to a second lackluster season, like Surface and Hijack. This season premiere wasn’t awful, but it didn’t raise the bar either. it felt even. I barely remember the show as it is, if I’m being honest.
The Oscars: Live Audio Description during the show was terrific. I loved how we had a recognizable spouse in the audience, which Amy Madigan clocked, but the AD just kept him as neutral as any other spouse. We did mention PTA was with Maya Rudolph, but they didn’t clock Ed Harris? Seems odd. But, that is Amy Madigan’s husband. They have only been married my entire life. I was born in 1983, they married in 1983. I feel like if we mention Maya Rudolph, we should clock Ed Harris. Otherwise, the opening segment with Conan was excellent, the In Memoriam segment was solid (I hope we didn’t forget anyone, because I’m miffed at the exclusions by the Academy), and some really great depictions of wardrobe and hair. The pre-show is a hot mess, but I appreciate it. My preference would be to stay with the focus, whoever is being talked to. It is very distracting to try and cover the split screen, talking about someone else arriving, while someone is being interviewed. the actual descriptions were great, it was just timing. Live AD is hard, and this really was solid. Not perfect, but solid.
