The Small Screen Diaries: 03/19/26

If you were looking forward to the upcoming season of The Bachelorette, the one ABC proudly positioned with a post-Oscars special, and had their new Bachelorette walking the red carpet, you might be surprised to find out… it just got axed. Days before the premiere of the new season, which ABC has already poured money into, and is said to have completed filming, the series was yanked after video surfaced that supports an allegation against The Bachelorette herself of a domestic violence charge. Yup. That happened. The Bachelorette has higher standards. Now, about those files…

Starfleet Academy- I put up a full series review yesterday, so check that out.

Twisted Yoga- Apple has a new docuseries about a cult grounded in Yoga that may or may not have led to the abuse of multiple women. The first episode is like dipping your toes into a pool, it doesn’t tell you much, until you get to the end where Apple has to read off like 8 different legal requirements about involved parties. While the most disturbing thing in the first episode is the drinking of urine, it sounds like things will get much darker.

The Pitt-I loved how they wrapped up the rape storyline with that doctor fuming over the fact that she has a rape kit from two weeks ago that hasn’t been picked up yet, even though they aren’t supposed to stay in there longer than 72 hours. This is why we can’t have nice things. Also, for the blind community, we get a new patient who experienced sudden blindness, so prepare for that storyline.

Man Vs Baby- It took me three months to finish a four episode series.Huzzah! I don’t want to review it. It just don’t. I’m sure people still find Rowan Atkinson’s brand of humor funny, but I never have. He was a terrific Fagin though, for anyone who knows what I’m talking about. However, the audio description here is great, especially through the whole sequence with the dog poop.

RJ Decker- I wish they would tell us why RJ is so good at what he does. The show isn’t as good as Bad Monkey, because RJ just exists. At the top, he’s a news photographer, then suddenly after 18 months in jail, he’s transitioned to private investigator, and for a pilot episode, it shouldn’t be this clunky. I’m sure the series will eventually feel like a Will Trent or High Potential, but this pilot just is another example of how we’ve lost the art of making pilots as pilot season no longer exists. The audio description was OK. It sounds like a narrator I’ve never heard before, and I heard no credits at the end.

The Masked Singer: At least this week I knew who these people were. But still, this show is losing gas in the tank, because people aren’t getting excited for some of these names. One of them maybe, but the other? Probably not. I kept it spoiler free.

Say Something!
