The Small Screen Diaries: 03/25/26

TV Shows Watched: Daredevil: Born Again: S2E1 (Disney Plus) with audio description, One Piece: S2E3 (Netflix) with audio description, Down Cemetery Road: S1E8 (Apple) with audio description, Malice: S1E3 (Amazon) with audio description, Dreaming Whilst Black: S2E3 (Paramount) with audio description

Daredevil Born Again- I loved that Kingpin’s suit was labeled Iconic, acknowledging that there could very well be blind comic book nerds watching who would know exactly what you mean when you say that. The episode was solid overall, with some really excellent audio description. Even the recap was audio described. Matt is still trying to save New York against a dangerous leader whose law enforcement have Ben given an extremely long leash. No Jessica Jones yet, but Matthew Lillard does start his character arc. Quentin Tarantino couldn’t be more excited.

One Piece- This season feels more fragmented than I remember Season 1. Instead of a really natural flow, it feels like they hop from villain to villain. Now that there is a crew, it is in the badddie of the week vibe that shows like Buffy popularized. Zoror does have a fantastic sword fight in this though.Dakota/Jamie’s audio description is solid.

Down Cemetery Road- Finished. I might do a full review. I might not. While the finale was a bit interesting, my overall quick take is that the show starts off super strong, and struggles to keep up the same level in the back half. While things do still happen, it isn’t with quite the ferocity or urgency as the first half.

Malice- It’s interesting to see how Adam’s arc is shaping, as we learn a bit more about his past. Someone starts looking into Adam. It’s so hard for me to look at the things Adam has done, and sympathize with him based on his past though. He just straight up killed a cat last episode, rather unnecessarily. Episode 3 is walking a fine line.

Dreaming Whilst Black- I love that this show exists. I feel like the only reason this is under the radar is because it is a British import.Having to work around the God awful actress from Love Island was funny, against the B-plot of the two parents being called into the school over bullying/fighting.

Say Something!
