Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen- Excellent audio description. The show is masterful at making you feel very uncomfortable, unsettled, and unnerved, without really showing you much (if any) violence or gore yet. Everything is just in the tone.Possibly a long term problem for this limited series is finding reasons for Rachel to not leave.
Imperfect Women: Kerry Washington, Elisabeth Moss, Kate Mara,Joel Kinnaman, Corey Stoll, and Leslie Odom jr all star. What a cast. The show has one of them murdered right up at the front, and then the series is about figuring out how that happened, and who is responsible. Washington definitely is the lead of the first episode, though I have a feeling perspectives will shift. The audio description was very supportive of the crime mystery genre.
Top Chef- An elimination challenge where the contestants had to cook around color, making bold choices. It killed nearly all the chefs, making it easy to choose a top three, and much harder to figure out the worst of the worst. The judges were quite surprised at how bad some of the dishes were.
SNL- Alexander Skarsgard hosts, and was great for a non-comedian. I loved how his monologue gave the band the time to shine. I also loved the Trump voter gag. Stellan popped up twice, and Cardi B even stopped by a sketch since she was musical guest. biggest surprise was Jack mcBrayer reprising his role from 30 Rock. The audio description was fine, though I skipped over Cardi B. Sorry, but I have my limits. She was fun in her sketch though.
Celebrity Jeopardy- The only show here I’m convinced is not narrated by a human. The audio description here is also lackluster, but with Jeopardy, there isn’t much to do except keep track of scores. I suppose they could describe every contestant in detail, but the set is always the same, and no one moves.
Landman- I need better women written in this show. While this episode did annoy me less, Angela and Ainsley still spent a chunk of the episode trying to make this other woman look attractive so men will want to have sex with her. Rebecca loses her damn mind over this offshore drill. Demi Moore did some nice work, as she batted away a single man, still wearing her wedding ring. We picked up a new female character in Cheyenne, an attractive “for hire” woman who spends nearly her entire screentime holding Sam Elliot in her arms in a pool. The fact that she’s described as the blue eyed girl right up until the end, suggests to me that she’ll be hanging around, otherwise we didn’t need to know her name. Is she a new love interest for the 81 year old Sam Elliot? The actress playing Cheyenne is 27. Just putting that out there. In case the show decides to go there.
