Quiz Lady

Where I Watched It: Hulu English Audio Description?: Yes Cast: Awkwafina, Sandra Oh, Will Ferrell, Holland Taylor, Jason Schwartzman, and Paul Reubens. Written By: Jen D’Angelo Directed By: Jessica Yu There’s something about Awkwafina that still makes it hard for me to not see her as comic relief. One of those obvious reasons is that I haven’t found The farewell with audio description. So color me shocked to see that she’s playing it straight here, while Sandra Oh gets to play the aloof one. I did not see that coming. The movie centers around two sisters. One is obsessed with … Continue reading Quiz Lady

Tonight is the special series finale for Archer, which means I’ll be waiting to see if this thing has audio description on Hulu the next day. Also, this week brings a new season of What If, as well as the new Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. 1) For All Mankind (Apple Plus) English Audio Description By: PixelLogic Narrated By: Darren Polish Status: Unknown Hell hath no fury like Ed after being fired. Best. Christmas. Ever.

Where I Watched It: Netflix English Audio Description?: Yes Cast: Heather Graham, Brandy, Jason Biggs, Directed By: Mary Lambert They got me. The good people at Netflix threw some shit into an algorithm and it worked. I clicked on this, and the more this movie lasted, the more I regretted my life choice. I feel like it has been forever since I’ve seen Heather Graham Supposedly she was in Extrapolations, and I might have seen something called love Guaranteed, but the last time I coherently remember Graham in something was The Hangover part 3. And I’m pretty sure Brandy hasn’t … Continue reading Best. Christmas. Ever.

Written By: Robert Smigel, Adam Sandler, and Paul Sado. Directed By: Robert Marinetti, David Wachtenhem, and Robert Smigel Tread lightly when expecting something from a Happy Madison production. Admittedly, the reason I still watch Adam sandler’s output is that I hope that every once in a while … Continue reading Leo

The Too Much TV Roundup- 12/15/23

Honestly, in television news? I read that Ray Romano has wholeheartedly declined to ever bring back Everybody Loves Raymond. In a world where they keep doing this, most of the time it doesn’t work out. Sure, The Connors is a lone exception, but even that doesn’t have the ratings of the original show, and will fall short of Roseanne’s original run. It’s highly unlikely Paramount Plus is keeping the new Frasier revival around for 11 years. Although, some shows and characters I wouldn’t mind seeing again. Something like Law and Order: Organized Crime allowed for Chris Meloni to return, without … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 12/15/23

Albert Brooks: Defending Your Life

Where I Watched It: MAX English Audio Description?: Yes I can’t quite remember my first film of Albert Brooks. It wasn’t Finding Nemo, so don’t worry. I have enjoyed his work for years, and until this documentary, I never really knew about the Albert Brooks that came before his notable film career. That might sound strange. But, while I always knew Brooks could handle comedy, I always just assumed he was a regular actor who was good at being funny. After all, have you seen Broadcast News? It doesn’t scream “stand up”, as there’s this connection he has with Holly … Continue reading Albert Brooks: Defending Your Life

The Too Much TV Roundup- 12/14/23

Just a friendly reminder that Amazon launched the second season of Reacher. Don’t worry, it got an early Season 3 renewal, as well as Star Alan Ritchson getting a deal for his production label. My little boy is all grown up. You might not know this, unless you are a super fan (or used to write for a blog centered around this show), but Ritchson is one of the more surprisingly successful alumni of American Idol. True story. He had a prominently featured audition in Season 2, where he sang directly to Paula, as the guys cleared out of his … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 12/14/23

Genie

Where I Watched It: Peacock English Audio Description?: Yes Alas, we have missed out on Melissa McCarthy dancing and singing to Genie In A bottle. That time has passed. She has now already played a genie, and Richard Curtis, in his infinite wisdom, left that out. If you think that joke is bad, you haven’t seen Genie yet. I would love to go to bat for McCarthy. I actually enjoyed Superintelligence. True story. I think she was good as Úrsula in The Little Mermaid (and I was surprised by that notion). Has she chosen some dismal projects recently? yes. And … Continue reading Genie

No Hard Feelings

Where I Watched It: Netflix English Audio Description?: Yes Comedy is in such a weird place. We have made a lot of social changes, and it’s like no one knows how to be funny, or what to laugh at anymore. Even a lot of your comedy classics have at LEAST one joke that really didn’t age well. On top of that, most of them aren’t even going to theatres. When a comedy does go, it almost feels like an event. So naturally, Jennifer Lawrence, who I swear was a child just a few moments ago… and I feel so old … Continue reading No Hard Feelings

Kandahar

Where I Watched It: Hulu English Audio Description?: No Earlier today I watched the 7th episode of the final season of sex Education, and it featured the wheelchair bound Issac not being able to use the “lift” because it was broken again. They’ve tackled this before, and this time, he just got tired of it, and called out his school for lack of accessibility. He was joined by two other disabled students voicing their solidarity, with the hearing impaired girl giving a testimony of what it’s like for people to expect her to read lips all the time and how … Continue reading Kandahar

The Too Much TV Roundup- 12/13/23

Yesterday was the nominations for the Critics Choice Film section, and my quick hot take is: they are more concerned with being a bellwether for predicting the Oscar’s that they aren’t doing anything interesting anymore. I think their choices are solid, and mostly what everyone is talking about, with very few exceptions. It’s just that I’ve spent the whole year listening to critics all over the internet talk about their undying love of Past Lives, and how much they want to give Selene Song an Oscar nomination in director, or how is’t a shame that Tao Yoo and John Meggaro … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 12/13/23

Blue Beetle

Where I Watched It: MAX English Audio Description Provided By: Deluxe Narrated By Darrin Revitz It is really hard to know what to do with blue beetle. He’s the end of the old regime, and now James Gunn gets to do whatever he wants with all your favorite DC characters until that eventually loses steam and they give the thing to…. Greta Gerwig. That’s my current running guess. But for now, Miguel from Cobra Kai demands a review. It’s kinda funny to think that this actor doing all these fight scenes probably learned a lot of his combat skills from … Continue reading Blue Beetle

I Looked At The Netflix Report So You Don’t Have To

Netflix recently released a massive list of 18K titles that had at least 50K viewing hours on the platform for the first six months of 2023. They plan on making bi-annual reports like this and breaking down the idea that they aren’t transparent. I looked at it so you don’t have to. The list values time watched in hours, not necessarily who watched the whole season. So the longer the program, the better off it is. however, the list is broken down into seasons, so a powerhouse like grey’s Anatomy doesn’t propel to the top simply because it has a … Continue reading I Looked At The Netflix Report So You Don’t Have To
