Reptile

Where I Watched it: Netflix English Audio Description Provided By International Digital Center Narrated By Frankie Corso Written By Dakota Green I’m not a fan of the excuse that something is a slow burn, so that’s why we should forgive the film. Any film being discussed by critics shouldn’t get a pass for feeling longer than it should, or dragging, by simply calling it a slow burn. It’s this overused term, but if the payoff isn’t at the end of the film, then the film fizzled and burnt to nothing. Arguably, that is where Reptile lands. It’s not that Reptile … Continue reading Reptile

The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/13/23

Friday The 13th was a very unlucky day for one show. Apple pulled the plug on The After Party after two seasons. I’m not really sure why. It always baffles me when a show I see having a strong social media presence among the people in my feed gets cancelled, because it seems so rare that they ever bother to post about shows. but, while the new season was running, I had friends who were really into it. And I can’t say that for most of Apple plus’s programming (even if I’m a fan). 12) Justified (Hulu) English Audio Description?: … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/13/23

Meg 2: The Trench

Where I Watched it: MAX English Audio Description provided By: Deluxe Narrated By: Darren Rivets and Julia Smith We have learned nothing from the Jaws sequels. Don’t overthink the plot. And for some reason, this script feels like it was written by ten different people all very high on various drugs, who were given 24 hours to write the script for this film. I am all about bucking the trend against establishment critics and film snobs, but meg 2 is subjectively terrible. The first film was entertaining enough. Giant sharks with no predators escape their underground domain, and create a … Continue reading Meg 2: The Trench

Two big new shows dropped yesterday. Also, Hulu, which just brought back moonlighting, announced the return of LA Law in November (not the remake). And there was news of Halloween being purchased for TV rights and a cinematic universe. So look for a Michael Myers TV show as well as I guess an Avengers style Myers universe? 10) The Ren and Stimpy Show (Paramount Plus) English Audio Description?: No Status: Ended While I am still enjoying a little taste of nostalgia, this series very much relies on sight gags and really needs audio description. It also has some perfect gags, … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/12/23

So AMPTPA walked away from SAG talks all pissy, because SAG didn’t make the deal. look, the studios had a lot of way more specific deals to iron out with SAG than the WGA and DGA, and saying you offered them the same deal is impossible. Did you commit to having hairstylists on set who are able to properly style ethnic hair? Did you guarantee the safety of extras on set? Did you agree to stop trying to scan everyone and stop owning their likeness in perpetuity? I bet if these negotiations were available for regular folk to watch, AMPTPA … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/11/23

I’m trying to keep up with the bottom three on Dancing With The Stars, and Adrian Peterson has made it further than I thought he would. it’s almost like he’s made a switch or something. 6) Ahsoka (Disney Plus) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Not Yet Renewed in case you are wondering how the final episode of the Disney Plus series wound up at the bottom, I have two words for you. Stormtrooper Zombies. No thank you. I love Rosario Dawson, but this show has seemingly gone out of its way to be the weirdest and most disappointing series so … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/10/23

It’s not TV news, but I’m pretty excited that michael Mann’s next movie is Heat 2. I’m less excited that he’s expressing interest in Adam Driver. part of what made the first film so great was that it put Pacino against DeNiro, and there just really isn’t anyone for Driver to go up against. While I’m unfamiliar with the screenplay, I think you have to go with some kind of pairing that is relative to that experience. The only one I can think of currently is Matt Damon vs Ben Affleck, but I’m sure there’s one out there that is … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/09/23

What’s big in the TV world? I read that David Gordon Green, who keeps trying to remake the sequels to horror franchises, is trying to do a Garbage pail kids film. Also, Guillermo Del Toro was attached to a Jabba The Hutt film and I’m wondering why anyone in their right mind would have cancelled that project. If he wants to make that movie, you let him. 7) Daryl Dixon (AMC Plus) English Audio Description?: No Status: Renewed Still a lot of French with subtitles I can’t read, as well as zombie sequences i can’t follow without audio description. Daryl … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/08/23

Flora and Son

Where I Watched it: Apple Plus English Audio Description?: Yes I would like to first state that John Carney clearly is beating us over the head with the power of music. I’d love to see him direct an honest to God musical, in the most truest sense instead of these films about musicians playing music that matters. I really wonder if his love of music could resonate in a musical adaptation of something headed to the big screen. Perhaps Spring Awakening would be up his alley? Flora and Son is my least favorite John Carney film, but for the guy … Continue reading Flora and Son

Your TV news for the day is that the upcoming 3rd season of Vikings: Valhalla will be its last. 11) The Continental (Peacock) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Limited Thank God this is behind me. I was so over this show. Mel Gibson really gave his all to an unredeemable villain, but as far as the rest goes, this feels nothing like the franchise from which it was adapted. it has so much dialogue, it almost feels like a more violent TV adaptation of oceans 11. Final Grade: C- 10) Trophy Wife (hulu) English Audio Description?: No Status: Ended The … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/07/23

10 Spooky Movies On MAX For Your halloween

My second streaming service to get the treatment this year. I did Peacock last weekend, and now MAX. I plan on trying to fill the list with films that have audio description, but if i can’t hit 10 titles, I will fill in at the end, with some great movies that don’t have audio description but probably should. Just because I didn’t list it doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. There are films on the service that would qualify that I haven’t seen (still waiting for HBO to put audio description on the first Annabelle before i watch the sequels), as … Continue reading 10 Spooky Movies On MAX For Your halloween

Cassandro

Where I Watched It: Amazon English Audio Description provided By: Media Access Group Narrated By: Brianna Leon I’m not a wrestling guy. I can name the wrestlers who have crossed over into film, but beyond that, I don’t watch any wrestling. That also goes for the Luchadors. I barely understand conceptually what the WWE is going for, and the extent of my knowledge of these masked Mexican wrestlers is limited to Nacho Libre. So, perhaps the biopic about a Mexican icon wasn’t aimed at me. It’s quite possible I slid into the wrong film. But, one thing seems to always … Continue reading Cassandro

Teenage Mutant ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem

Where I Watched it: Paramount plus English Audio Description?: Yes Last year, Netflix dropped Rise Of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. i grew up with these Turtles. Big time. My mom took me to a convention where I got a graphic novel signed by Eastman and laird. I had the Turtle Van, as well as well as the Sewer set. I had all the turtles, and actually even multiple versions, as well as all the major supporting players, and other mutants. I loved watching the cartoon, and had some VHS tapes. And I definitely saw all three of those original … Continue reading Teenage Mutant ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem

I don’t know how I missed the drama, but Starz apparently cancelled Heels, and almost immediately removed the show from its service. There was a notable campaign on Twitter to shame Starz for cancelling the series. honestly, with Outlander in its final season, if they don’t start figuring out their programming, they’ll be the Power network, and it’ll be hard to get people attracted to new shows who aren’t watching Power spinoffs. 11) Justified (Hulu) English Audio Description?: No Status: Ended People get shot at in this episode, and it’s tough to figure out who and when, since there’s no … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/06/23

Spy Kids: Armageddon

Where I Watched it: Netflix English Audio Description Provided By: XTrax Written By Mary Morrison Narrated By: Gloria Deleon For the record, I wasn’t a kid for the first Spy Kids film. So, this isn’t a case of anyone feeling like their childhood can’t be messed with, remade, or rebooted. And in the same year with Hypnotic, we already have seen a Robert Rodriguez joint this year, and the state of Troublemaker is clearly not great. He’s now remaking his own franchise, but for Netflix, with no intention of a theatrical release. Aside from the kids, the cast that has … Continue reading Spy Kids: Armageddon
