The Too Much TV Roundup- 09/25/23

There are a lot of articles out there about “When is my favorite show coming back?” Presumably, once the leadership passes the tentative agreement on, they will lift the restrictions while WGA members vote on whether or not to approve. Right now, the only thing that has stopped is picketing. Since they were not technically being struck to begin with, those daytime talk shows that faced backlash could likely return next week, including Drew Barrymore and Jennifer Hudson. Matt Walsh is expected to dance tonight on Dancing With The Stars. The next set to resume will be the late night … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 09/25/23

The Too Much TV Roundup- 09/24/23

A tentative deal has been reached between the studios and the writers. The details have yet to be made public, but should be shortly as the membership has to vote on it. An official vote by leadership happens on Tuesday, which will solidify this a bit more, and possibly allow some writers to return to work. Most writers will have to wait until the contract is fully ratified by the WGA as a whole, but writers for talk shows are expected to resume possibly later this week, as all they need is for Tuesday’s vote to pass. 11) Daryl Dixon … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 09/24/23

Fast X

Where I Watched It: In The Family Room on Peacock English Audio Description?: Yes, Family May Enjoy Audio Description Family. I’m pretty sure when The Fast and the Furious was a surprise hit in 2001, a sequel was presumed. but we are now on the 10th film in this long running family franchise, and it has grown in size as to be able to maximize the family members on screen. The amount of people in this film is so ridiculous that after the movie ends, and the credits start to list the various family members, when we start to wind … Continue reading Fast X

The studios claim they have made their best and final offer to the WGA,. After four days of negotiations, the two are scheduled to meet again today. I do believe this has to be ratified by the membership, so if there aren’t major concessions made by the studios it won’t pass. Writers haven’t been picketing for 5 months just so AI can start becoming a credited screenwriter. 11) The Continental (Peacock) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Limited I suppose its possible that if I had never seen the John Wick films, I might have enjoyed this. However, i have seen … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 09/23/23

Elemental

Where I Watched It: Disney Plus English Audio Description Provided By: Deluxe Narrated By: Michelle Deco The internet makes no sense. The unqualified rage against Disney, and the persistent talk about impending doom all circle around the idea that Disney isn’t making anything fresh. Then, Elemental opens, and people really can’t be bothered. Either you want original disney or not. Which is it? The latest from Pixar tells the story of a world where you are either part of Fire, Water, earth, or Wind, and someone killed Mah-Ti, so no combination of these individuals will eve summon Captain Planet. They … Continue reading Elemental

I’m getting a little tired of renewals not meaning anything anymore. Peacock has reversed its decision on a second season of Bumper In Berlin. Why even bother with renewals? Why lie to fans if your plan is to just piss them off later on by yanking the show away? It’s not like Peacock has a ton of hit original programming. 10) Desperate Housewives (Hulu) English Audio Description?: No Status: Ended This sprawling cast is down by one as the show opens with a character death. Not a major character. I’m not even truly certain I grasped who the character was, … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 09/22/23

Wrath Of Becky

Where I Watched It: Paramount Plus English Audio Description?: No This feels very 2023. It’s basically a movie about a young girl who takes revenge on a domestic terrorist group that has a name that sounds very similar to those boys that were once proud. It’s also very much one of those John Wick style films where someone has been wronged, and they screwed with the wrong dog. AND it’s “a very particular set of skills film” as she uses her skills she accumulated from a long time of being…in the Girl Scouts… This film is totally up my alley. … Continue reading Wrath Of Becky

Moving On

Where I Watched it: Hulu English Audio Description?: No As a fan of Grace and Frankie, I had been looking forward to this even if it wasn’t getting much attention. I couldn’t find a VOD version of this with audio description, so i waited for it to appear on Hulu. It also doesn’t have audio description on Hulu. Perhaps a track was never created. It isn’t a terribly difficult movie to follow. One woman (Jane Fonda) attends the funeral of an old friend, and immediately plots to kill her husband (Malcolm MacDowell), who raped her many years before. It dramatically … Continue reading Moving On

The Dancing With The Stars drama is getting real. A quick update for those who are out of the loop. Dancing With The Stars currently has its contestants in rehearsal for the upcoming season. The WGA has been picketing these rehearsals, and putting pressure specifically on SAG members Alyson Hannigan, Mira Sorvino, and Matt Walsh. The pressure was enough that ABC is mulling pushing back the premiere, as Walsh has caved and paused his participation with the show. However! Turns out, SAG is the honey badger in this scenario, and they told the WGA “We give zero fucks what you … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 09/21/23

Totes forgot to mention, perhaps because it doesn’t have audio description and I stopped watching it, that Dark Winds was renewed for a third season. So, any lingering fans out there, you may celebrate. 11) Adventure Time (MAX) English Audio Description?: No Status: Ended Finn tries to convince a tree trunk to have an adventure. I love that these episodes are so short. Episode Grade: B 10) Futurama (Hulu) English Audio Description?: No Status: Revival Now Running in the season 3 premiere, Bender is affected by a were-car, which of course takes the gang on a strange journey. rarely do … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 09/20/23

No big TV news, so I’ll use my intro spot to announce that Lily Gladstone, the one-time front runner for Best Supporting Actress, has now flipped and decided to run for Lead Actress. We now call this “Pulling a Michelle Williams.” Hopefully she dominates the movie, because she is now competing in films where the lead Actress is in a film clearly about them. 10) Alias (Disney Plus) English Audio Description?: No Status: Ended I’m still saying that this show is too action oriented to not have audio description. However, the second episode did have more dialogue. And, if you … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 09/19/23

Today is the day Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem hits Paramount Plus. I, of course, am wondering where mission Impossible Dead Reckoning and Indiana Jones are, but sure, let’s put an August movie up. 8) 8) Seaquest DSV (Peacock) English Audio Description?: No Status: Ended The writing was all over the place, so it was harder to follow than usual without audio description. This one character kept telling the same story about knowing he was going to die as he saw a giant fish. The thing that made this episode unintentionally hilarious and awesome, is this exchange between a … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 09/18/23

HBO wasted zero time in cancelling Winning Time at the same time (I’m saying time a lot this time aren’t I?) as the season finale, which is now a series finale. I had a feeling this was going to happen, since the shows creator was begging for viewers on Twitter. 8) The White King (MGM Plus) English Audio Description?: No Status: Not Yet Renewed I have no idea what this show is about. It’s incredibly slow, very serious, has some medieval fighting sequences, and I guess royal drama? There was one good scene where the King admonished the Lords who … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 09/17/23

Early Oscar Predictions: If I Had To Do it Today

After three festivals just dropped a ton of titles aside from ones we got from Caanes, SXSW, and Sundance, you might be wondering who I would pick if predictions ended today. It’s tough, because some movies are still unseen, and too many people seem set on frontrunners. BEST PICTURE: 1) Oppenheimer 2) Killers Of The Flower moon 3) Poor Things 4) The Holdovers 5) Past Lives 6) Maestro 7) Anatomy Of A Fall 8) The Color Purple 9) Barbie 10) May/December That 10th spot is a bitch to predict right now. I think whaat the festivals showed is how strong … Continue reading Early Oscar Predictions: If I Had To Do it Today

Five Actors Who need To Join ‘Family’ In Fast 11 (And Two More Who Need To Return)

As Fast X had one of the largest collections of actors ever featured across the franchise, clearly the only way to step up the game is by expanding the family. Here are five great examples of how they can, and should, do that. 1) Samuel L Jackson Enough is enough. Jackson’s wise cracking has already worked for Diesel in the past in the XXX franchise. With Team Family spread out, and Roman looking to take on more of a leadership role, it might only be natural that he could reach out to someone in his own family. Perhaps Jackson? Scenes … Continue reading Five Actors Who need To Join ‘Family’ In Fast 11 (And Two More Who Need To Return)
