Stress Positions

It certainly has A24 vibes. This indie landed on Hulu, surprisingly with audio description from neon, the studio with the most “A24 vibes”. It’s a pandemic comedy about a gay man who takes in his male model cousin during the pandemic while the young man heals from a scooter accident. Of course, this sets all the friends around him into their own levels of “OMG you’re living with a male model?” In addition to making his ex curious about this model. To make things funnier, our lead is also really vigilant about contamination during the pandemic, and is trying to … Continue reading Stress Positions

Spooky Season: 10 Titles On Max To Maximize Your Scares This October

I’ve already tackled Peacock, Hulu, and Disney plus. So, next up is MAX. We’re looking exclusively for titles that in some sliver of connection work as Spooky, Scary, or Horrifying this Halloween season. Do you think MAX has 10? 2) Bodies Bodies Bodies A group of friends gather at a large home during a storm, and start to play a game. but is it all a game, or does someone in the group secretly want them all dead? This A24 film has some nice twists and turns, and while it might be a little scary for some, it is mostly … Continue reading Spooky Season: 10 Titles On Max To Maximize Your Scares This October

The Small Screen Diaries: 10/10/24

Thanks to all that reached out. All things considered, I’m very blessed. I didn’t sleep Wednesday night, as this hurricane was pretty intense. 3.2 million people are without power rights now, so the fact that I have power, I am very blessed. that being said, I had a hard time staying awake yesterday. So, enjoy a rather sparse diary despite the fact I was just sitting at home. TV Shows Watched: Citadell: Diana: S1E1 (Amazon) no audio description, Agatha All Along: S1E5 (Disney plus) with audio description, Tomb Raider: The Legend Of Lara Croft: S1E1 and S1E2 (Netflix) with audio … Continue reading The Small Screen Diaries: 10/10/24

Spooky Season: 10 Frightfully Audio Described Titles On Disney plus

Wait. That makes it sound like the titles have bad audio description. I mean, these are 10 films that match some Halloween vibes. it’s Disney plus, and I’m not including Hulu titles, so don’t expect anyone’s head getting ripped off. Or perhaps… 2) Coco Of course Coco has to make this list. It is about Día De Los Muertos, so how can it not be on the Halloween list? Pixar’s beautiful ally animated romp into the underworld features a memorable song about remembering, and is perfect for this holiday. It was also the last film i saw with vision, and … Continue reading Spooky Season: 10 Frightfully Audio Described Titles On Disney plus

His Three Daughters

This is one of Netflix’s lower priority Oscar contenders. You can tell, because the release date for this is shit. Plus, they have the already anointed Emilia Perez, which is considered by basically everyone to be a lock for nominations, as well as Maria (with potential nominee Angelina Jolie), and The Piano lesson (with likely nominee Danielle Detweiler). Their strongest contender here is the biggest reason to see the film, and instead of running all of the daughters in supporting, they ran natasha Lyonne in lead. Dammit. This is just a depressing film from start to finish. It feels like … Continue reading His Three Daughters

Babes

When I think about what the funniest comedy of the year is, if I set apart Deadpool and wolverine for not technically being just a comedy, then Babes has the shot at being the best comedy of the year. There’s really no doubt in the how r why. Director Pamela Adlon had so much to say in her FX series Better Things that the idea that she would step behind the camera and have even more to say, seems like a no-brainer. Still, she has to rely on Ilana Glazer and Michelle Bhutto to do the heavy lifting. Luckily these … Continue reading Babes

The Small Screen Diaries: Milton Edition- 10/09/24

Well, I’m awake. I don’t normally push out the Small Screen Diaries a little after midnight, but I’m in the middle of a hurricane, I can’t sleep, and the news keeps telling me I’ll lose power. So, let’s go ahead and knock this out. I did doze off for about an hour. Can I make it on an hour of sleep? We will find out, won’t we? However, the rules still apply tomorrow. I don’t know what my situation will be regarding electricity/internet, and as such, I cannot promise tomorrow. So if I miss a diary, I’m not dead, I … Continue reading The Small Screen Diaries: Milton Edition- 10/09/24

Touch

I would say that being called a spiritual companion piece to Past lives is a compliment. Past Lives, for many, was the best film of last year, so they are not throwing that around lightly. This film about reconnecting after even more years apart has a very similar emotional resonance, but more importantly, it has audio description on peacock. Instead about being two friends in South Korea who are separated when one moves to America, only to be reunited thanks to social media years later, Touch centers around a Scandinavian youth who abandons college to work in a Japanese restaurant, … Continue reading Touch

Spooky Season: 10 Films On Hulu To Make You Scream (with Audio Description)

After successfully finding 10 titles on Peacock that had audio description, and qualified for this list, I’m pretty sure Hulu has 10 titles. Peacock made me compromise and include at least two films I didn’t actually like, but I recognize that some things are subjective. How strong is my Hulu list? Read below to find out! 2) Antlers This wendigo themed horror film has everything. creepy kids, body horror, violence, gore, jump scares, and great acting. The main kid in this is fantastic, and the adult cast does some really strong work in this very underrated horror film. Not for … Continue reading Spooky Season: 10 Films On Hulu To Make You Scream (with Audio Description)

TV News: Netflix has cancelled Kaos. And yes, I’m still with power/internet. Hurricane Milton Bradley hasn’t reached me yet. TV Shows Watched: English Teacher: S1E7 (Hulu) with audio description, Solar Opposites: S5E10 (Hulu) with audio description, 911 Lone Star: S5E3 (Hulu) no audio description, Queens Court: S1E2 (Peacock) with audio description, The legend of Vox Machina: S3E3 (Amazon) with audio description, love Is Blind: S7E5 (Netflix) audio description, and Saturday Night Live: S50E1 (Peacock) no audio description podcasts: I actually started listening to a brilliant podcast, Unseen, which is about a blind undocumented immigrant. There was a documentary that hit … Continue reading the Small Screen Diaries- 10/08/24

Spooky Season- 10 Peacock Titles To Rip Your Face off

As audiences everywhere were dismayed to find out that Peacock was dropping Winnie The Pooh: Blood and honey 2 without audio description, it is not eligible for this list. These are the 10 scariest titles that are on Peacock and have audio description. I still refuse to tell you what this movie is about. If by some chance this movie has not been spoiled for you, see it before it is. All I’ll confirm is that, yes it does belong here. yes, there is gore. And Yes, this is still one of my favorite titles this year. i gave it … Continue reading Spooky Season- 10 Peacock Titles To Rip Your Face off

Uglies

What a God awful idea for a film. Following in the money grabbing young adult trend that was the era of Hunger Games, Divergent, and The Maze Runner, someone wrote a film about a future where everyone gets to have plastic surgery at 16 to make them perfect. Then, their problems are solved. Everyone under 16 is a child. Oh, sorry, I read that wrong. Everyone under 16 is one of the “Uglies”. You know, a regular person just living their life? Joey King is in this for some reason, despite being 25 years old. It’s almost like mcg made … Continue reading Uglies

French Girl

Zach Braff has a new movie, and MGM Plus had it with audio description. In this film, he plays an English teacher who is very into Shakespeare, and has a Canadian girlfriend currently living with him in the states. She’s a professional chef, and the opportunity of a lifetime for her is presented, but is back in Canada where her family is, and where the job might be. So, not wanting to lose his girlfriend, Braff follows her to Canada, tries to impress her family, and fight off competition from her potential boss, who is actually an ex-girlfriend of his … Continue reading French Girl

The Small Screen Diaries- 10/07/24

Just a little reminder up at the top, once again, I do live in the path of yet another hurricane. The last one, Helene brushed me compared to a lot of other places, but Milton is headed in a different direction. I anticipate being able to update at least tomorrow morning, but in case I lose power/internet, this is a reminder. TV Shows Watched: the Penguin: S1E3 (MAX) with audio description, The Franchise: S1E1 (MAX) with audio description, Heartstopper: S3E3 (Netflix) with audio description, Creature: S1E3 (Netflix) with audio description, Love Is Blind: S7E4 (Netflix) with audio description, Have I … Continue reading The Small Screen Diaries- 10/07/24

The Small Screen diaries- 10/06/24

TV News: Netflix informed me that shortly after my post asking my readers to listen to It’s What’s inside with audio description, the viewership numbers just went through the roof. I know all of you did that, and I’m sure everyone is just flabbergasted by the particular verbosity of that audio description script, and are now in a deep meditation. Plus, I didn’t have any real news. TV Shows Watched: Daryl Dixon: S2E2 (AMC Plus) no audio description, Love Is Blind: S7E3 (Netflix) with audio description, Grotesquery: S1E4 (Hulu) with audio description, The Ark: S2E11 (Peacock) with audio description, Queen’s … Continue reading The Small Screen diaries- 10/06/24
