Dan Harmon returning to ‘Community’

According to Dan Harmon himself, via his Twitter, he will be returning to Community, and according to the studio, final deals are just being smoothed out. This is great news for fans of the show, who may have felt the show lacked in quality last season without Dan at the helm. Interestingly, in his tweet, he said for fans to thank Joel McHale. Did Joel throw his star power around and get Dan rehired? I would think that there is no “throwing around” for a show that just barely got renewed. USA Passes On ‘Happy Endings’

If you need me, I’ll be in my kitchen eating all of my ice cream. In what is heartbreaking news for me, one of the biggest fans of Happy Endings, USA has decided not to pick up the sitcom, citing low ratings as a reason. The rabid fanbase is pushing Sony to help find it a new home, perhaps on Amazon, which just ordered two new comedies. This is totally not ah-mah-zing news. 10 Newly Unemployed Actors Who Deserve Another TV Series

1) ANNA TORV She’s proven to be an asset as a federal agent, so she should be partnered into another similar show. Could you see the fanbase explosion if she joined Josh Holloway on CBS’s midseason Intelligence? Excellence. 2) SOPHIA BUSH She hasn’t found the right series since One Tree Hill. She’d be great on the next Big Bang Theory or How I Met Your Mother. She was dramatically underused on Partners (and the show was terrible anyway). 3) MAMIE GUMMER Sure, she was given a craptastic failure of a show in Emily Owens, MD, but she was fantastic in … Continue reading 10 Newly Unemployed Actors Who Deserve Another TV Series

American Idol Tour Cancels Dates

Is this the beginning of the end? The American Idol tour has cancelled the first leg of the tour, cancelling all stop before July 19th. They will no longer be coming to Las Vegas, St Louis, Tulsa, Kansas City, St. Louis, and Minneapolis among other cities. St Louis is an especially hard cancel, being that it was the hometown for Top 10 contestant Curtis Finch (and people might have actually show up to see him). Candice Glover’s winners single has only sold 71K in three weeks. These singles used to go platinum. This is definitely the beginning of the end. Continue reading American Idol Tour Cancels Dates

Rex Lee and Alan Tudyk depart ‘Suburgatory’

Somehow, Suburgatory went from being one of the hottest shows of the 2011-2012 season, to being a bubble show in 2012-2013. It isn’t even on the fall lineup next year, it is being held for midseason. Part of the renewal was an agreed upon budget cut. That budget cut has led to Rex Lee and Alan Tudyk being released from their contracts to Suburgatory. Tudyk has been a regular since the beginning, playing best friend to Jeremy Sisto’s character, and Lee was upped to series regular following the pilot, as his role of guidance counselor was a breakout role. It … Continue reading Rex Lee and Alan Tudyk depart ‘Suburgatory’

Emmy Wish List: Best Comedy Series

1) Community If you rolled your eyes, you’re probably a Community-purist, which is OK. You probably thought that a non-Dan Harmon Community is blasphemy, and you hated the fourth season. Me? I couldn’t tell the difference. I thought there were some terrific episodes this season, like the Christmas episode, or the season finale. It’s time to give NBC’s most underrated underdog its due. 2) Happy Endings Nothing could possibly help Happy Endings’ prospects more than being nominated for Best Comedy Series after ABC’s unceremonious cancellation of the beloved cult favorite. A nomination for Happy Endings would be “ah-mah-zing” as our … Continue reading Emmy Wish List: Best Comedy Series

Nicki Minaj departs ‘Idol’

Nicki Minaj bids American Idol farewell on her twitter saying: “Thank you American Idol for a life changing experience! Wouldn’t trade it for the world! Time to focus on the Music!!! Mmmuuuaahhh!!!” Minaj’s departure had been rumored for a while, as the Idol panel is looking to reboot for the fall. A rumored panel of Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Hudson, Adam Lambert, and Clay Aiken was leaked a month ago, but Kelly’s people have been denying that she will be taking part. Meanwhile, the Jennifer Hudson deal seems to be a lock. Continue reading Nicki Minaj departs ‘Idol’

Ashley Madekewe leaving ‘Revenge’

Looks like Declan wasn’t the only Revenge category. Ashley will also not be returning next season. At first glance, Revenge fans probably said “OH NO! WHAT?” and then they realized how little Ashley actually has to do, and how the writers struggle to keep her relevant each episode. The writers probably gave up on trying to figure out how to keep the girl who started out as a party planner in the show for two seasons. The show has basically run out of male series regulars (or large recurring characters) for her to sleep with, other than the grieving Jack, … Continue reading Ashley Madekewe leaving ‘Revenge’

Will Jenna Elfman Be Your ‘Family Guide’?

NBC is reportedly in talks to plug Jenna Elfman into the vacated female lead in the sitcom Family Guide, a role left vacant after Parker Posey exited the series just after it got a pick-up to series. The series features another 2012-2013 loser, JK Simmons, whose series Family Tools was unceremoniously launched in late April, and then cancelled a few weeks later. Will the teaming of both of them save the show? (Not likely). Continue reading Will Jenna Elfman Be Your ‘Family Guide’?

Casting Twist! ‘Two and a Half’ Women?

With longtime series star Angus Jones departing the show, Two and a Half Men was about to become Two Men. In a bizarre casting decision, they are currently casting Charlie Harper’s (Charlie Sheen) long lost daughter, who will join the show next season as a series regular. All they need now is a pizza place. Free cookie if you got that last reference. Continue reading Casting Twist! ‘Two and a Half’ Women?

Three Still Running Shows I Gave Up On

1) Nashville I gave this show a good 7 or 8 episodes before finally deciding that I no longer cared what happened to anyone in the cast. It is too soapy, and there are too many ancillary characters for me to care about. Connie Britton does a good job, but the rest of the cast is really soapy. Even Hayden. I’ve heard about what’s been happening since then, and it just seems so daytime for my taste (and I still watch Revenge and Grey’s Anatomy). 2) Suburgatory   My love for this show went away with the introduction of Alicia … Continue reading Three Still Running Shows I Gave Up On
