River Of Grass

River Of Grass (2025)- Shows Deep Affection For The Everglades While almost every single day I eat, sleep, and breathe audio description and accessibility, there are times when I feel compelled by the subject matter, or a specific person being involved, and I’m aware the project doesn’t have audio description. I was offered the opportunity to screen the documentary River Of Grass, and it felt like a no brainer. I’m a Floridian. I’m a member of Critics Association Of Central Florida. For most of my life, I’ve lived in Florida. Technically, not born here, but I moved so young I … Continue reading River Of Grass

The Small Screen Diaries- 03/04/25

I’m going out on a limb here and guessing that the President didn’t stand up for disability rights last night and demand that 17 states currently suing to declare Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act unconstitutional to drop their suits. Just a guess. The Small Screen Diaries- 03/02/25

The Oscars were last night. I watched most of it. Like 99% of it. I turned it off during Anora’s best Picture speech because that film talked enough. I swear I saw the American Idol thing was programmed at like 10:05, so if that is true, that was a huge over run. John Lithgow is fired. A lot of firsts happening. First black man to win for Costume Design. First time Flow was shown with audio description of any kind. Oh, they didn’t celebrate that? That’s why we need more voices in the room, so a movie like Flow, when … Continue reading The Small Screen Diaries- 03/02/25

If I Was An Oscar Voter (My Ballot)

I had the opportunity to vote last year for a few awards. So, between the nominating process, and the voting, you won’t find someone more diligent than me. 457 films last year. I have technically seen everything (albeit some without audio description) nominated in every category but the shorts. So, here’s a look at my ballot, for better or worse. these are not my predictions. This is my vote. Best Picture: Wicked – My #1 film of the year was ghostlight. Wicked was my number two. Actually, I would be happy with The Substance (3rd) or Conclave (4th) as well. … Continue reading If I Was An Oscar Voter (My Ballot)

The Small Screen Diaries: The Weekly Rankings

Here’s a comprehensive list of everything on my watchlist, along with shows that are disappearing. Ranked. Of course. Winner: Severance (Apple Plus) with audio description- Going strong every single week. Severance is not moving from this spot. I think it got better, and it keeps me on the edge of my seat. Plus, it has some really good audio description. The whole cast is terrific. Runner Up: From (MGM Plus as a Prime Channel Add On)- I’m still getting through season 1, but I’m very happy this now has audio description and we can catch up. 3rd- Yellowjackets (Paramount Plus) … Continue reading The Small Screen Diaries: The Weekly Rankings

My Final Oscar Predictions- Taking Some Risks

This is it. An official record. We shall see after Sunday’s broadcast, which categories I got right. the ceremony, in case you haven’t heard, has live audio description being provided by Descriptive Video Works. Live Action Short: Eileen I literally have seen zero contenders in this category, which is rare for me. this is the only one I’ve heard anything about, so I picked it. Animated Short: Yuck Doesn’t it just feel like “And the Oscar goes to… yuck!” I feel like it has manifested its own destiny. I know very little about this category this year, as well. Documentary … Continue reading My Final Oscar Predictions- Taking Some Risks

Going In Blind (Catching Up) September 5, Out Of My Mind, White Bird, Blink, Rumors,The Wizard

Rumors- Cate Blanchett, Alicia Vikander, and Charles Dance star in a film that resembles a G7 summit that goes very weird and horribly awry. It leans horror, somewhat, butt more on the surreal satiric side. I know people were excited for the director, and while I thought the film had some interesting and fun parts, it didn’t quite rise to the level. If you enjoy satirical horror comedies, this should be for you. But, maybe not? I wish I could remember the audio description track, but I’m still catching up and this was not a film that stood out to … Continue reading Going In Blind (Catching Up) September 5, Out Of My Mind, White Bird, Blink, Rumors,The Wizard

Quality Check: Toxic Town

From what I can tell, all the new films that dropped except for the anime Lord Of The Rings film this week were films I had already seen. September 5 (Paramount Plus), venom The Last Dance (Netflix), and nickel Boys (MGM Plus). I do not understand how Nickel Boys made it to streaming before The Fire Inside, but whatever. You do you. So, since I haven’t yet done a quality check for a TV series, i figured I’d take a look at whatever the hell Toxic Town is on Netflix. I’m going in super cold on this, knowing only there … Continue reading Quality Check: Toxic Town

The Small screen Diaries: 02/28/25

I’ve basically dropped the YouTube/Podcast section, because I wasn’t actively listening to, or watching as much YouTube. However, special mentions go to the trio doing For Your Consideration, and their Oscar video. I love Jeff Snyder. He seems like he’d be a fun hang. And, since the real life events that consumed yesterday happened, i also needed some kind of news/podcast to help me process what I was feeling, so I can always rely on Keith Olbermann to put my feelings into words. He just happened to be the first podcast I subscribe to that pushed out an episode on … Continue reading The Small screen Diaries: 02/28/25

Talking Oscars: Which Films Will Win, And Will The Blind and Low Vision Community Come out on Top?

That is a long title. My apologies. After all the awards handed out. After I got slammed with so many screeners during awards season that I actually wonder if I actually can catch up, the Oscar’s are Sunday. Descriptive Video Works is providing live audio description for those who watch on ABC. I know the intent is to pump it through to their streamers as well, but I don’t trust Hulu for anything audio description related, and Disney Plus still has no audio description for Oscar Nominees Sugar Cane and Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes. When it was … Continue reading Talking Oscars: Which Films Will Win, And Will The Blind and Low Vision Community Come out on Top?

The Small Screen Diaries- 02/27/25

TV Shows Watched: Reacher: S3E2 (Amazon) with audio description, Cobra Kai: S6E13 (Netflix) with audio description, Survivor: S48E1 (Paramount Plus) with audio description, Win Or Lose: S1E3 (Disney Plus) with audio description, Court Of Gold: S1E3 (Netflix) with audio description, How Disney Built America: S1E3 (Hulu) no audio description, and The Masked Singer: S13E3 (Hulu) no audio description. I got the eliminated contestant on Masked Singer wrong. However, i still think Paparazzo is Matthew Lawrence. I’m having a hard time thinking of another actor who would have a Robin Williams connection, as a child actor, but also be known for … Continue reading The Small Screen Diaries- 02/27/25
