TV News: Well, that was fast. Just a few days after airing Episode 2, in a brand new time slot, CBS has picked up Matlock for Season 2, further signifying how successful this buzzy reimagining has been.Hopefully the strength of Matlock will help keep Elzabeth afloat as well. TV News: Ding Dong, the Shit Is Dead. Netflix has thankfully put That 90’s Show out of its misery. I would have been happy with them also announcing that Season 3 would be only red and Kitty, somehow, because those two were still great after all these years. TV Shows Watched: The Rings of Power: S2E8 (Amazon) with audio description, Dr Odyssey: S1E2 (Hulu) no audio description, Nobody Wants This: S1E9 (Netflix) with audio description, The old Man: S2E5 (Hulu) with audio description, Love Is Blind: S7E2 (Netflix) with audio description, 911: S7E5 (Hulu) with audio description, What’s Next with … Continue reading The Small Screen Diaries- 10/04/24

TV News: Ryan Murphy, who I literally forgot created the 911 franchise, has announced plans for another spinoff for the flagship series on ABC. Currently, Murphy has on air, that I’m aware of: 911, 911 lone Star, American Sports Story, monsters, Grotesquery, and Dr. Odyssey. Does he have enough shows? Has he taken over TV yet? TV News: Just a lot of death. Apparently famous people don’t die in threes, but in clusters. Just in the last few days we lost Dame Maggie Smith (Downton Abbey, Harry Potter), John Astin (Beverly hills Cop), Kris Kristofferson (A Star Is Born), Dikembe Mutumbo (NBA Superstar, and commercial star), and Gavin Creel (a prolific Broadway talent). That’s not a rule of three. Rest in peace to all. TV News- Well, I guess Kerry Washington won’t be meeting her estranged mother anymore on her Hulu comedy UnPrisoned, which has been cancelled after two seasons. It’s a shame, because her co-star, Delroy Lindo, was excellent. I was always rooting for him for a surprise Emmy nomination, just like I wanted him recognized for his excellent work on Da Five Bloods. He goes under the radar far too often. TV Shows Watched: The Ark: S2E10 (Peacock) with audio description, Daryl Dixon: S2E1 (AMC Plus) No audio description, Mr McMahon- S1E3 and S1E4 (Netflix) with audio description, Nobody Wants This- S1E4 … Continue reading The Small Screen Diaries- 09/29/24

TV News: SyFy/USA have cancelled Chucky after 3 seasons. I’m a little surprised, based on the cliffhanger, but also that final season was a bit off the rails if we are being honest. Creatively, it needed a reboot anyway, and new writers. It was getting so bonkers that I wouldn’t be surprised if Season 4 was in space. If you’ve been reading these for a while now, what I’m about to say will not shock you that much. But, I’m interrupting your regularly scheduled list of shows for a much more important discussion. Quite frankly, I don’t know what I’m doing anymore. Just the other day, I noticed the nominations had been announced for the People’s Choice Award for the Audio Description Project/American Council Of THe Blind’s annual awards gala. This isn’t about whether or not the correct five, or whether or not my votes got in, but it is very much about one show, which I went … Continue reading The Small Screen Diaries- 07/20/24

Summer Of Sam: 25th Anniversary

I’ve been using anniversaries as an excuse to celebrate the audio description behind certain films. Spike Lee’s Summer Of Sam actually has audio description on Paramount Plus, and I missed it upon release, and actually have never seen it. It boasts a promising cast, led by John Leguizamo, Adrien Brody, Mira Sorvino, and Jennifer Esposito. Spike Lee loves to tell stories about New York City, so a time capsule back to the time when the Son OF Sam killer had a neighborhood. Lee uses his vast ensemble, which is much more than the four I already listed, to show this … Continue reading Summer Of Sam: 25th Anniversary

And we are back. As a content creator, who also works, and has to balance this, sometimes real life wins. And due to the format of this being “shows I just watched the day before”, it is impossible to create in advance and put this out. So, apologies for two days with no diary. I’m sure everyone was devastated. I always assume I’m the first thing everyone reads in the morning, like USA Today or The Wall Street Journal. In my short absence, CBS murdered two shows that perform better than most of the shows on other networks, choosing to … Continue reading The Small Screen Diaries- 04/21/24

The Small Screen Diaries- 03/24/24

As I was not born blind, I’m still attached to certain shows. I won’t continue to mention it throughout every viewing this season, but it does bear mentioning that Top Chef (Peacock) has returned, and despite its many Emmy nominations, and this being its 21st season, it still has no audio description. It does have a new host, as padma left the show last season, but Tom and Gale are both back. Also, I wish that the trendy new docuseries Quiet On Set (MAX) had audio description. It does not. There’s a chance I might talk about this again, since … Continue reading The Small Screen Diaries- 03/24/24
