The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/17/23
Dancing With The Stars certainly took the magic of Disney night to max corporate synergy. Meanwhile, some top Hollywood talent are meeting with the SAG negotiations to see what’s up. Oh, I don’t know… the studios don’t want to negotiate? 12) World On Fire (PBS) English Audio Description?: No Status: Unknown I assumed this was a limited series the first time around, but PBS brought it back apparently without Helen hunt, and far more conversations not in English. This is a war drama with a lot of subtitles I can’t read, so much like AMC Plus’s Daryl Dixon, it is … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/17/23

Disney Plus is developing Gargoyles into a live action series. So, if you were a fan of Gargoyles in the 90’s, this was the best or worst news you heard all day. 7) Krapopolis (Hulu) English Audio Description?: No Status: Unknown I will concede that this episode was the funniest so far, with a lot of random jokes strung together nonsensically. We had a tribute to Prometheus, the rite of passage to go beat up your deadbeat Cyclops father, and a joke about giving squirrels the wheel instead of humans. I have no idea what this show wants to be … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/16/23

I haven’t watched it yet, but the new Rick and Morty voice cast premiered last night. Also, I truthfully decided to start watching Step By Step after noticing it on FreeVee, and a few hours later I saw Suzanne Somers died. I’m very weirded out about how that worked out. 9) 9) Fright Crew (Hulu) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Unknown Eli Roth produced this 10 episode animated show aimed at… I’m not really sure. Eli clearly wants to go hard, so there are some things and themes here that feel targeted for maybe middle school to high school aged … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/15/23

Where I Watched It: AMC Plus English Audio Description?: no I think I’ve seen this movie somewhere else with audio description before, but when it floated onto AMC Plus (likely through Shudder), I figured I’d see what’s up. It’s an independent survival thriller where people decide to go camping when they know very little about it and have zero survival instincts. These films would be far more entertaining with survivalists as protagonists. But, it’s basically pointless without audio description. Not that there’s a ton of dialogue, but there is some. That’s really all you get. That plus some sound effects … Continue reading Backcountry

Best Buy announced they will no longer be selling physical media after this holiday season. That breaks my heart. I have a massive physical media collection of DVD’s and BluRay’s, and before losing my vision, I used to love to hit up Best Buy on Black Friday, run in and grab a ton of new entries to my collection for cheap. Now, I’m all worried about whether or not something has audio description, which shockingly not every disc does. 12) Chip and Dale’s Rescue Rangers (Disney Plus) English Audio Description?: No Status: Ended It’s not down here because of quality, … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/14/23
10 Titles On Hulu To Frighten You This Halloween
You guys know the deal. I’m doing ten titles, with priority given to those with audio description. Hulu is the third streaming service I’ve done this year, following Peacock, and MAX. Peacock didn’t make it to 10 audio described, and i needed to fill the list. Will I have to do that again with Hulu? Read on and find out. 1) Antlers (Hulu) Audio Description?: Yes i have seen and reviewed this film prior. I thought it did a good job, especially with the main child lead. It is quite possibly the only film centered around a Wendigo to appear … Continue reading 10 Titles On Hulu To Frighten You This Halloween
Winnie The Pooh: Blood And honey
Where I Watched it: Peacock English Audio Description?: Yes. Yes. This movie has audio description. The list of classic films and television shows that can’t get audio description is massive, but slap Winnie The Pooh into a low budget slasher and suddenly, audio description. Maybe we need to add Winnie The Pooh into more things we want to see audio described. Someone has over 10K signatures to get audio description on Gilmore Girls over at Netflix. Perhaps if it was Winnie The Pooh and Gilmore Girls, it would. or, the other option… Gilmore Girls: Blood and Honey. There’s a loose … Continue reading Winnie The Pooh: Blood And honey

Where I Watched it: Netflix English Audio Description Provided By International Digital Center Narrated By Frankie Corso Written By Dakota Green I’m not a fan of the excuse that something is a slow burn, so that’s why we should forgive the film. Any film being discussed by critics shouldn’t get a pass for feeling longer than it should, or dragging, by simply calling it a slow burn. It’s this overused term, but if the payoff isn’t at the end of the film, then the film fizzled and burnt to nothing. Arguably, that is where Reptile lands. It’s not that Reptile … Continue reading Reptile

Friday The 13th was a very unlucky day for one show. Apple pulled the plug on The After Party after two seasons. I’m not really sure why. It always baffles me when a show I see having a strong social media presence among the people in my feed gets cancelled, because it seems so rare that they ever bother to post about shows. but, while the new season was running, I had friends who were really into it. And I can’t say that for most of Apple plus’s programming (even if I’m a fan). 12) Justified (Hulu) English Audio Description?: … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/13/23
Meg 2: The Trench
Where I Watched it: MAX English Audio Description provided By: Deluxe Narrated By: Darren Rivets and Julia Smith We have learned nothing from the Jaws sequels. Don’t overthink the plot. And for some reason, this script feels like it was written by ten different people all very high on various drugs, who were given 24 hours to write the script for this film. I am all about bucking the trend against establishment critics and film snobs, but meg 2 is subjectively terrible. The first film was entertaining enough. Giant sharks with no predators escape their underground domain, and create a … Continue reading Meg 2: The Trench

Two big new shows dropped yesterday. Also, Hulu, which just brought back moonlighting, announced the return of LA Law in November (not the remake). And there was news of Halloween being purchased for TV rights and a cinematic universe. So look for a Michael Myers TV show as well as I guess an Avengers style Myers universe? 10) The Ren and Stimpy Show (Paramount Plus) English Audio Description?: No Status: Ended While I am still enjoying a little taste of nostalgia, this series very much relies on sight gags and really needs audio description. It also has some perfect gags, … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/12/23

So AMPTPA walked away from SAG talks all pissy, because SAG didn’t make the deal. look, the studios had a lot of way more specific deals to iron out with SAG than the WGA and DGA, and saying you offered them the same deal is impossible. Did you commit to having hairstylists on set who are able to properly style ethnic hair? Did you guarantee the safety of extras on set? Did you agree to stop trying to scan everyone and stop owning their likeness in perpetuity? I bet if these negotiations were available for regular folk to watch, AMPTPA … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/11/23

I’m trying to keep up with the bottom three on Dancing With The Stars, and Adrian Peterson has made it further than I thought he would. it’s almost like he’s made a switch or something. 6) Ahsoka (Disney Plus) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Not Yet Renewed in case you are wondering how the final episode of the Disney Plus series wound up at the bottom, I have two words for you. Stormtrooper Zombies. No thank you. I love Rosario Dawson, but this show has seemingly gone out of its way to be the weirdest and most disappointing series so … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/10/23

It’s not TV news, but I’m pretty excited that michael Mann’s next movie is Heat 2. I’m less excited that he’s expressing interest in Adam Driver. part of what made the first film so great was that it put Pacino against DeNiro, and there just really isn’t anyone for Driver to go up against. While I’m unfamiliar with the screenplay, I think you have to go with some kind of pairing that is relative to that experience. The only one I can think of currently is Matt Damon vs Ben Affleck, but I’m sure there’s one out there that is … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/09/23

What’s big in the TV world? I read that David Gordon Green, who keeps trying to remake the sequels to horror franchises, is trying to do a Garbage pail kids film. Also, Guillermo Del Toro was attached to a Jabba The Hutt film and I’m wondering why anyone in their right mind would have cancelled that project. If he wants to make that movie, you let him. 7) Daryl Dixon (AMC Plus) English Audio Description?: No Status: Renewed Still a lot of French with subtitles I can’t read, as well as zombie sequences i can’t follow without audio description.
