Twister

Sometimes I feel bad for casual readers. They get really excited that I’m reviewing the 1996 disaster hit Twister, and then they get this. I hate to break it to you, but this is not really a review. As a blind film critic, I’m constantly challenging companies to provide more accessibility, especially where it makes sense. As companies continue to increase their prices, rather unwarranted since they really aren’t delivering more expensive content, the question I have is will it result in more accessibility? what are you going to do for me when I already pay more for a service … Continue reading Twister

The Burial

Where I Watched it: Amazon English Audio Description? Yes Jamie Foxx has had a year. luckily for him, he seems to be coming out the other side, and he’s doing so with a strong performance in what should be Oscar bait. Oddly enough, it was his performance in They Cloned Tyrone that recently earned him a Gotham nomination, not the burial, adding to my idea that no one has watched this movie. Based on the true story of a small funeral home operator (Tommy Lee Jones), who gets the run around from a corporation looking to buy out funeral homes … Continue reading The Burial

The Too Much TV Roundup- 07/01/23

Well, started off my morning with shitty news. Apple Plus has cancelled high Desert. honestly, I understand it. The pilot was off putting initially, but once you get past it, Patricia Arquette is doing a hell of a job keeping this thing together. And, Matt Dillon and Brad Garrett do a pretty decent job supporting her. I would have probably renewed this, and I’m sad to see this character go, but Apple released a lot of comedies in the Spring, and right after this was Platonic, which is a better show and really deserves a second season. Shrinking and The … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 07/01/23

Happy Mother’s Day to all those out there who need to hear that. No big news today. That’s it. It’s just Mother’s Day. 13) Family Matters (HBo MAX) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Ended Look at HBO getting that AD on Family Matters. It’s been a long time since I’ve watched this show, and I’m not sure I ever saw the pilot. Of course, Family Matters was one of those shows that changed so much as the show progressed. Laura has almost no screentime in the pilot, I forgot she had a younger sister. Steve Urkel doesn’t exist. This is … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 05/13/23

Speed

Where I Watched it: Amazon English Audio Description?: Yes Somewhere out there, I’m being judged because people keep clicking on reviews of films I hadn’t seen already, and just now feel like getting around to. This is not that. It’s close, but not really. My history with Speed is less complicated. I wasn’t old enough at the time to see an R rated film on my own, but luckily for me, back in the 90’s, big films like this always made themselves onto TV for their big network premiere a year or two later. However, in the case of Speed, … Continue reading Speed
