And in the continuing saga of the paramount Purge, Paramount’s decision to murder inside Amy Schumer in cold blood has caused Comedy Central to scrap plans to have a cable run of the 5th season of the show. Wouldn’t it be crazy if this got en Emmy nomination in spite of all this disrespect? #8) Designing Women (Hulu) English Audio Description?: No Status: Ended The only guy of the group got himself into a little bit of trouble at the horse track. moral of this story, don’t go to the horse track. Paramount Plus is purging again. This time, I won’t be burned by saying everything has already been removed. The biggest cancellation/removal is Inside Amy Schumer. The rest are some documentaries, Paramount Plus original movies (Snow Day and Fantasy Football), and a bunch of Nickelodeon shows, only two of which I had even heard of. No 90’s content except Allegra’s Window sounded familiar. 10) Family Matters (MAX) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Ended Nothing really was wrong here, except Laura sold the wrong quilt, and had to get it back. It was very dramatic. Episode Grade: B 9) 911 (Hulu) English … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 06/26/23

A couple of things. First, I have not properly given a shoutout to Tubi, which is now offering a select number of titles with audio description. This is their first month, and they already have surpassed AMC Plus. Hah. I do plan on watching something from them soonish to support their new offerings, and give a review on how easy it is to access it. You can find a list of titles where you can find all the lists of titles for all the streaming services. The Audio Description project: adp.acb.org Second, congrats to Bupkus on a second season renewal. … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 06/24/23

Creed 3

Where I Watched It: Amazon English Audio Description?: Yes i had heard some truly terrific things about Creed 3 heading into my chance to see it, so the bar was high. I didn’t factor Jonathan Majors personal life into the film, because movies are a collection of the work of hundreds of people, and we have to stop doing that. There are plenty of people who do stunts, costumes, sound design, set design, and hell, just plain old production assistant work, who deserve to show their job to the world without everyone feeling like they can’t watch it because of … Continue reading Creed 3

Yesterday, i did attend another panel at the American Council Of The Blind’s virtual conference, this one on TTS audio description. I still squeezed in a lot of shows, because it was shorter, and most of these are half hour shows. Also, in TV News! Melissa McBride has reportedly rejoined the Daryl/Carol spinoff, instead of taking a break. or maybe she just didn’t need a long break. NBC also announced that the second half of Magnum PI’s 5th season (which they rescued), will be its last. Then, Paramount Plus said HOLD MY BEERR! They promptly cancelled 4 shows, and immediately … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 06/23/23

Yesterday, I had the awesome opportunity to attend a panel at the American Concil of the Blind’s virtual conference presented by the Audio Description Project that featured reps from the major streaming services, all of whom came to talk about just how committed they are, without actually putting a number on that commitment. I’m committed to cleaning my room. When? How often? I’m committed. So I didn’t watch as many shows. But on the plus side, hulu is moving forward with a second season of nine Perfect Strangers, which should be fun since they already used all the strangers from … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 06/22/23

Flaming Hot

Where I Watched it: Disney plus English Audio Description?: yes Sometimes, with streaming films there is a vibe that they were either picked up at a festival, or at least developed with the intention of possibly going theatrical. Prey is a great example of this. It truly had a cinematic feel, despite debuting on Hulu. But, Flaming hot feels like one of those inspirational true stories that popped up during the Wonderful World Of Disney, and was just fine. i think there was one with Tony Danza? Most of them blended together. If I had any idea as a high … Continue reading Flaming Hot

Today, i plan on attending a virtual conference held by the ACB and the Audio Description project, in which I will get to hear representatives from streaming services talk about their commitment to Audio Description. I’m a little intrigued by Paramount Plus/Showtime, but I’m super excited to hear Hulu talk about how ‘committed” they are. Girl, you can’t even get AD onto a Hulu original like The Clearing. Come on now. 14) Ripley (PBS) English Audio Description?: No? Status: I don’t care. Well, in a shocking turn of events, HBO is in talks to license some of its original content to Netflix. i have to believe that these are the lower tier titles. It’s actually not that weird. True Blood is on Hulu. So, if Netflix starts running Boardwalk Empire, Carnivale, or Six Feet under anytime soon, you’ll know why. No way will this extend to Game of Thrones. 7) XO Kitty (Netflix) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Renewed After the initial shock of not being familiar with the source material, seeing how Dae is trapped in this fake relationship he seems … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 06/20/23

Well, filming on 1923’s second season has been postponed until after the writers strike. I get the feeling these strikes are going to last for a while. 10) Designing Women (Hulu) English Audio Description?: no Status: Ended The ladies and their somewhat problematic boyfriends prepare to celebrate New years. Episode Grade: B- 9) Friends (MAX) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Ended Whence we last left off, Monica and Richard broke up, and Chandler reunited with Janice. This is not a fair trade. Juneteenth! No TV news, just the fact that today is a holiday! 12) XO Kitty (Netflix) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Renewed It’s not that the series is bad, it just happens to be in 12th. I honestly only watched the first of the three films this series is a spinoff of, so I didn’t quite understand who the character was, and while it does a fair amount of explaining, I think it assumed the bulk of the audience were already fans. Magic Mike’s Last Dance

Where I Watched It: MAX English Audio Description?: Yes Lots of missed opportunities here. I really don’t know why Steven Soderbergh is back in the director’s chair, but there’s something very disconcerting about the once revered director saying No to the second film, but being hungry enough to do the third. This man directed sex, lies, and videotape, Out of Sight, Erin Brockovich, Traffic, and knew making George Clooney be Danny Ocean was a great idea. The fact that he came back for what is essentially the Tokyo Drift of the franchise is disappointing. Last Dance revolves around the idea … Continue reading Magic Mike’s Last Dance

Some big shows dropping this coming week. Secret invasion! The Walking Dead: Dead City! The Bear! And Just Like That! It is truly an embarassment of riches. Anyway, Happy Fathers Day, and I hope you enjoy this roundup. It’s dedicated to my best friend, who would have turned 40 today. Rest. in Peace. 10) The Clearing (Hulu) English Audio Description: LOL, No. Status: Unknown I love when hulu picks up a show clearly from another English speaking place, and touts it as a Hulu original, but also says fuck audio description. Well, NBC has opted to not renew American Auto after all. Looks like a solid victim of the writers strike, as they needed to either extend contracts at the end of the month, or cancel. However, MAX is sticking with Velma. 15) The Adventures Of The Gummi Bears (Disney Plus) English Audio Description?: No Status: Ended Consistently ranking low, this nostalgic trip hasn’t quite worked out. This was the 7th episode, and I’m trying to get at least 10 in so i have that fully revived memory. This one was mostly about adopting an abandoned wolf cub.
