The Too Much TV Roundup- 06/23/23

Yesterday, i did attend another panel at the American Council Of The Blind’s virtual conference, this one on TTS audio description. I still squeezed in a lot of shows, because it was shorter, and most of these are half hour shows.

Also, in TV News! Melissa McBride has reportedly rejoined the Daryl/Carol spinoff, instead of taking a break. or maybe she just didn’t need a long break. NBC also announced that the second half of Magnum PI’s 5th season (which they rescued), will be its last. Then, Paramount Plus said HOLD MY BEERR! They promptly cancelled 4 shows, and immediately removed them from the service. This included Grease: Rise Of The Pink ladies (no one cared anyway), The Game (how many times can this show be revived and cancelled?), Star Trek prodigy (A co-production with Nickelodeon that had previously gottten more episodes ordered), and Queen Of The Universe ( during Pride month of all things. Girl, bye.) To fans of those 4 shows, it’s bad enough to know your show has been cancelled, and it makes it worse when the streamer gaslights you into believing it never existed by pulling it.

12) Futurama (Hulu)

English Audio Description?: No

Status: Revived

Not that any show was bad, but all i remembered from this episode was a good joke about Bender going to Bending School, which i thought was a solid joke, given his name.

11) Blindspotting (Starz)

English Audio Description?: No

Status: not yet Renewed

Best part of the episode was Dante Basco doing the opening “last time on…”, which made me hopeful that he was going to take over this series Rufio style. instead, this was a little hard to follow due to lack of audio description, but I’m fairly certain Helen hunt asked her son, who is in jail, to help her with her taxes.

3) The traitors Australia (Peacock)

English Audio Description?: No

Status: Unknown

Another traitor is found, which means this group has hunted 4 traitors. if they were never told how many there are, who are they still hunting? The American version started with 3, and invited 1 for 4 total. if I was down to this few, I would assume they got the last traitor and vote to end it, unless they are planning on voting for Louis. But, now, since someone is getting murdered, that means a traitor has to still be there, and if the host reveals another was recruited then all bets are off. Can either of these recruited traitors actually win this season?

Episode Grade: A-

2) The Other Two (MAX)

English Audio Description?: Yes

Status: Please Renew This

One of the funniest shows around. This week, i watched this in the morning, and i was certain that finally, I would have no reason to put another show on top. Watching Carrie essentially Pleasantville his way through a bunch of bad actors was hilarious, and his sister is over there trying to “do good”, with a collective that means nothing and has no purpose. Oh, and Chase has a cocaine problem. The problem is that he won’t do cocaine. only on this show. if Emmy voters were bold, this would get a series nomination.

Episode Grade: A+

1) Better Call Saul (Netflix)

English Audio Description?: Yes

Status: Final Season

Wow. Just. Wow. I spent the whole episode wondering what Lallo was up to, and that finish… I didn’t see that coming at all. Total misdirection. 100%. This is great writing at it’s finest. No AI technology would have made this episode. I mean, there is an oh my God ending, and it took my breath away.
