I’m making a greater focus on audio description and the importance of it in 2024. every title on this list has audio description at least in some part. The studios claim they have made their best and final offer to the WGA,. After four days of negotiations, the two are scheduled to meet again today. I do believe this has to be ratified by the membership, so if there aren’t major concessions made by the studios it won’t pass. I forgot Spectrum was Charter, so watching the people in my Facebook feed complaining about not being able to watch their games yesterday was fun. Hilariously, they all blamed Spectrum, and not ESPN. It’s sort of like the studios don’t realize how many people in this country are against them in the strike. It is that time. Once again, I have no significant news. Someone needs to renew something for crying out loud. 14) Painkiller (Netflix) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Limited I’m trying to keep an open mind here, but DopeSick was so good that this really needed to be terrific too. While I watch these older shows, I can’t help but think how much better they would be with audio description, and I want a world where we also prioritize the back catalog of TV shows as well as films. I gotta be honest and say, that while i realize this strike is keeping people from working, I 100% support it until at least the studios give up on abusing the use of AI. honestly, I’m loving catching up on shows, and rewatching them. Not sure I have any mind blowing TV news.Oh, it would appear there is a new episode of invincible on Prime for anyone who missed out on that push notification yesterday. It’s amazing how many people out there have no problem consuming the work of the SAG and WGA but are complaining now because they think actors are little babies. While streaming residuals are a factor, since syndication and linear viewing are down, it is not the only factor. The use of AI technology is a key factor in both guilds. The writers do not want AI to be a credited screenwriter taking over their job, nor do the SAG want AI images of them used in perpetuity. Remember, we are just a few days away from SAG-AFTRA going on strike. There are people currently still working, and those people would stop. I can’t think of that many things that wouldn’t be in reruns. Take The View for example. Whoopi is definitely a SAG member. They’ve dodged the WGAA strike, but they wouldn’t be able to dodge this one. A couple of things. First, I have not properly given a shoutout to Tubi, which is now offering a select number of titles with audio description. This is their first month, and they already have surpassed AMC Plus. Hah. I do plan on watching something from them soonish to support their new offerings, and give a review on how easy it is to access it. I’m not sure there’s a ton of TV news, aside from the fact that the DGA signed a new contract, leaving the WGA and SAG as being the two still left.
