Had no idea this was happening, but apparently Baz Luhrmann recut his film Australia and released it on Hulu as a six part limited series. What an interesting concept. The strike has been going on for a lot longer than the studios thought they would. That’s for sure. I haven’t seen another movie abandon ship from 2023 yet. I kinda mentioned how the season finale of Doogie Kamaloha felt like a series finale with her not choosing either of the guys, and instead choosing herself. Disney Plus has cancelled the show. I think we all knew they would. It’s a shame, because they have such a hard time launching a new series that isn’t Marvel or Star Wars. Doogie joins a couple other Disney Plus shows that only get to a second season, including The Mysterious Benedict Society, The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers, Diary Of A Future President, and Big Shot. I did a two hour interview on audio description yesterday, and i still had time to watch all of this plus a movie. Plus, there’s actual TV news to talk about! Amazon has renewed The Summer i Turned Pretty for a third season, while Apple plus will not be moving forward with City on Fire. We have some news finally out of comic con. In The Walking Dead Universe, The Walking Dead: Dead City and Daryl Dixon both have gotten second season pickups. Meanwhile, Amazon was able to run a promo for the upcoming second season of Invincible, and Peacock showed off the upcoming John Wick spinoff The Continental, which was originally being developed at Starz. Before my TV news, I have to say that I always enjoy looking at the list of who has just been offered an Academy voting membership each year. To me, there’s always some hilarious comparison of someone who is obviously getting it really early, versus someone who has somehow flown under the water. You would think that considering neither of these actors were nominated last year that Bill Hader and Raul Castillo, for example, would not be getting offered membership in the same year. I’m starting over on it.
