The Last Showgirl

The Last Showgirl- Pamela Anderson Is Mind Blowing In This Dramatic Turn Quick Take: I’ve had the opportunity to debate this quite a bit since seeing this film, and I prefer to reward talent when i truly believe they are near or at the top of their game. So in a year where Angelina Jolie, Nicole Kidman, Kate Winslet, Soarise Ronan, and others delivered strong performances, none of them were definitively their best. In what is like watching a baby walk for the first time, that can’t be said of Pamela Anderson who was matched perfectly to the right role … Continue reading The Last Showgirl

My Spy/My Spy 2: Eternal City

Hollywood loves to pair people who we generally assume shouldn’t be around children with kids. This has been true for Hulk Hogan (Mr Nanny, Suburban Commando), Arnold Schwarzenegger (Kindergarten Cop), Vin Diesel (The Pacifier), and even comedians like Eddie Murphy (Daddy Day Care), Jack Black (School Of Rock), and Adam Sandler (Big Daddy). So, it isn’t that surprising that a franchise exists for Dave Bautista where his sidekick is a child. After all, if Burt Reynolds could make Cop and a Half, Bautista should be able to crank out some product for Amazon. Technically, I’ve already seen My Spy before, … Continue reading My Spy/My Spy 2: Eternal City

Dune: Part II

in preparation for this masterpiece of a film, I felt compelled to warm up my Dune knowledge by rewatching the first film. I have to say,as someone with no prior knowledge of anything Due before watching the first Denis Villeneuve entry, I wasn’t jumping all over it like a lot of people. I think about the aspect of my blindness, and how that affects my watching and enjoyment, and there is a possibility that the spectacle just doesn’t translate, and I’m left with a script that is difficult to follow. I’m careful not to complain too much, because I hate data … Continue reading Dune: Part II

Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 3

Where I Watched it: Disney Plus English Audio Description?: Yes Narrated By: Laura Post There is something rather refreshing about watching a film after all the major critics who get screenings have had their say. Will I agree? Or, will I push back? I think Guardians on their final outing was mostly well received, and i agree with that. There’s something kinda disrespectful about Bob iger taking to platforms to claim the doom and gloom, and following some of the clickbait YouTubers who think Disney is broken. if anything, Guardians Vol 3 proves that Marvel isn’t broken, and Disney Plus … Continue reading Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 3

Knock At The Cabin

Where I Watched it: peacock English Audio Description?: Yes The elephant in this cabin is that this is a M Night Shyamalan movie. So, if you know that, you are probably here not wanting any twists or turns spoiled for you. unfortunately, it makes it really hard to discuss the film, and why I didn’t like it. So, I’ll offer my grade upfront, and say that I thought the audio description for this film was adequate. if you want to know more, read on after the grade. Final Grade: D+ OK. So, now I feel like I have free reign … Continue reading Knock At The Cabin

Glass Onion

Where I Watched it: Netflix Audio Description Provided By: International Digital Center Written by: Steven Christopher Narrated By: Jamie Lemcheck A few years back, Knives Out was all the rage and the hotness among film twitter. it had Oscar buzz, but really just managed a screenplay nomination. We are back, thanks to Netflix ordering two sequels, with Glass Onion, which once again is in the Oscar race, and very likely to again get a screenplay nomination. Knives Out wasn’t one of my favorite films from that year, though i did appreciate it. I can say that I think Glass Onion … Continue reading Glass Onion

The Guardians Of the Galaxy Holiday Special

Where I Watched It: Disney Plus English Audio description?: Yes I was thinking about skipping an actual formal review, but hen, that’s what I do. I just don’t think anyone is waiting on reviews to watch this. It’s for Marvel fans. it’s for people who like the Guardians. it’s for people who think a Holiday Special could be fun. i don’t think there’s a demographic ready for this, despite it’s holiday trappings, that will watch this without having seen either Guardians film, or Marvel. And if there were, those people aren’t waiting to see “what the critics think”. Truth is, … Continue reading The Guardians Of the Galaxy Holiday Special
