Well, in TV news, John Oliver inked a 3 year renewal for Last Week Tonight with HBO. The Traitors: UK is nearing a premiere date. Someone marvelous won Dancing With The Stars. The Critics Choice nominations were so interesting for the TV nominees this year. Ramon Rodriguez slid in for Will Trent over more obvious performers like Brian Cox for Succession. The actresses nominated for Fall Of the House Of usher would not have been my go to nominees. It’s very sad that Mark Hamill was snubbed for that series. Here’s the thing I don’t get. The Drew Barrymore show is being picketed, because Drew decided to go back to work, but Whoopi is on the View, and obviously a member of SAG since she’s still acting. This means while other shows will likely be rewarding the current seasons of shows like The Bear and Only Murders in The Building, the Emmys are still rewarding the past earlier seasons. Well, NBC has opted to not renew American Auto after all. Looks like a solid victim of the writers strike, as they needed to either extend contracts at the end of the month, or cancel. Netflix has attempted its first upfront presentation, and to celebrate, they brought what they assumed were good tidings. Ginny and Georgia got a two season renewal, because certainly the world needed more of that. And, Virgin River got an early Season 6 renewal before Season 5 premieres.
