I just saw some encouraging news for fans of Twisted Metal. The debut of that series (which I will start soon) is considered to be Peacock’s most watched comedy original thus far. So if you wanted a second season, there’s a good chance. I shall predict that the whole thing we aren’t liking about how streaming services are pulling content will be far more common place after the strike is settled, and some of those shows they have to start paying residuals on. Well, the WGA didn’t end up going back to the table after all. So the strike is still on. i truly believe these studios refuse to budge on AI, and the guilds can’t afford to, because they understand once they allow it in the door contractually it will start putting people out of work. I did a two hour interview on audio description yesterday, and i still had time to watch all of this plus a movie. Plus, there’s actual TV news to talk about! Amazon has renewed The Summer i Turned Pretty for a third season, while Apple plus will not be moving forward with City on Fire. Not a huge list of titles, but I did spend a bulk of the day at a theatre watching Oppenheimer (review coming soon). RIP Paul Reubens. Such an unexpected blow. For a lot of people my age, he really helped to shape our childhoods. His Playhouse was a magnificent ball of fun, and his movies certainly were head scratchers for critics, but not kids. I so rarely get TV news. Two stories in one day! First, Deadline has reported that the Emmy Awards are moving from September to an undetermined date in January. This means while other shows will likely be rewarding the current seasons of shows like The Bear and Only Murders in The Building, the Emmys are still rewarding the past earlier seasons. It’s kind of amazing how sloe the TV news is during the strike.
