RIP Ron Cephas Jones. Only 66. Wow. He’s sure to be known for his work on This Is Us, but he’s done many other projects, and just didn’t gain that level of recognition (or Emmy award) until that show. his daughter, Jasmine Cephas Jones is also a brilliant actress, currently starring on Starz’s Blindspotting. 13) Hey Dude (Paramount Plus) English Audio Description?: No Status: Ended I remember loving this show so much as a kid. It doesn’t even play to that young of an audience either. Yet, I find myself struggling to enjoy a show again that just feels under … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 08/19/23

It is that time. Once again, I have no significant news. Someone needs to renew something for crying out loud. 14) Painkiller (Netflix) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Limited I’m trying to keep an open mind here, but DopeSick was so good that this really needed to be terrific too. The pilot was kinda boring and fell short. The cast is comprised of actors I enjoy, but they don’t match the performances of the original DopeSick cast. The whole scene where we were waiting for something horrible to happen to Taylor kitsch was lazily written and dragged out. This feels … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 08/12/23

I shall predict that the whole thing we aren’t liking about how streaming services are pulling content will be far more common place after the strike is settled, and some of those shows they have to start paying residuals on. So take this strike, and if there is a relatively obscure series on a streaming service right now that you have not seen yet… watch the hell out of it. It likely will get purged. Honestly, I never thought HBo would purge Westworld, so all bets are off. 11) Dark Winds (AMC Plus) English Audio Description?: No Status: not Yet … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 08/08/23

While I watch these older shows, I can’t help but think how much better they would be with audio description, and I want a world where we also prioritize the back catalog of TV shows as well as films. I also get sad when i think of a show I’d watch again that isn’t on a streaming service. Today’s highlight: American Dreams. Ran for 3 seasons on NBC, and launched the career of Brittany Snow. I miss that show. 14) Hey Dude (Paramount Plus) English Audio Description?: No Status: Ended Hey Dude was one of the live action shows thrown … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 08/05/23

Not a huge list of titles, but I did spend a bulk of the day at a theatre watching Oppenheimer (review coming soon). It has only fueled me even more to talk about audio description, so lets go! 9) Desperate Housewives (Hulu) English Audio Description?: No Status: Ended I feel like this is probably a much better show, but it is quite tough to navigate without audio description. Making an investment in a series with over 100 episodes would be nice for Hulu, and would make what is somewhat a classic TV show available to all. It’s hard for me … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 08/01/23

After a day of some interesting news, the best thing I’ve got for you this morning is that hulu has cancelled Up Here after 1 season. I didn’t even finish that show, so no love lost here. 12) Mulligan (Netflix) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Not yet Renewed When trying to figure out who lands on the bottom, every once in a while I run into the problem of watching too much TV, and not really remembering something. All i remember was Tina Fey’s character yelling at someone to be a dumbass, and the Senator character joking about how Spanish … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 07/28/23

Just a small note to kick us off today, if you happened to be one of those fans who loved Grease: Rise Of The Pink Ladies, and were broken when paramount Plus cancelled the series and dropped it, good news! It is getting a physical media release. So you can own it forever and ever. No word on if the audio description will follow it to the DVD release. 11) Futurama (Hulu) English Audio Description?: No Status: revival (Season 11) is now available. So I’m still on Season 2. It’s gonna take me a while to get to 11. The … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 07/24/23

I read that George RR Martin’s deal with HBo has been suspended, and I wonder why. Is he a member of the WGA? There’s another GOT show in early development, and i would think they’d still need him for house of The Dragon, which I last heard was still shooting in England. 13) Skull Island (Netflix) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Not yet Renewed This one for me just comes down to the voice cast, and what is this show trying to do, and what does it want to be? I felt that Jurassic World: camp Cretaceous managed to have … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 07/23/23

I’ve been deep diving a bit more into the SAG-AFTRA talks and some of the stuff they’re requesting isn’t unreasonable. Actually, none of it is. Just take some of these CEO salaries, lower them, and you’ll have the money to pay for some of this stuff. Also, for the poor people without cable or Peacock, Yellowstone is coming to CBS in the fall since they are a little short on new programming. Add to that, the UK version of Ghosts, which I’m at least interested in checking out.

12) 8 Simple Rules (Disney plus) English Audio Description?: No Sorry, this was a tough day to rank, and 8 Simple Rules just felt like it missed a mark the most. This episode had a solid reference to Three’s Company, but squandered the “kids out of the house” moment by not letting the adults actually have any meaningful time together. john Ritter’s time on the show was fleeting, and I can’t help but think this missed a mark to show that Paul and Kate were more than just parents. What made it worse was that Kate tried so hard to … Continue reading I’ve been deep diving a bit more into the SAG-AFTRA talks and some of the stuff they’re requesting isn’t unreasonable. Emmy Nominations are being announced at 11:30EST this morning. may the odds be ever in your shows favor. Unless your show is Yellowstone. In which case, you’ll need much more than a Hunger Games quote for a show the Emmy voters continuously ignore. 11) American Born Chinese (Disney plus) English Audio Description: Yes Status: Not Yet Renewed Perhaps this should have been the pilot. It goes much deeper into the other realm of Monkey business this show hints at. it’s such a weird show. As yesterday was July 4th, you can probably guess that there wasn’t any big TV news. Biggest thing was that Daniel Radcliffe said he has no plans to appear in the Harry Potter TV series. I wouldn’t be too worried about that response. He is on miracle Workers, so he is comfortable doing TV. If the show is good, I’m sure he’d join it. 12) Dinosaurs (Disney Plus) English Audio Description?: No Status: Ended Robbie is left to babysit the baby. Hilarity ensues. After The Other Two dropped their big bomb yesterday, Reservation Dogs followed them with the exact same announcement, that the 3rd season will be it’s last. I remember when most shows wanted to hit season 4 because it put syndication into play, but with shows no longer running 22 episode seasons, there’s no need for that. Reservation Dogs would need nine seasons to get to that point. Also, ABC is sticking with Home Economics a little bit longer. A huge show of good faith, the network has extended the contracts for the cast while waiting decision on a renewal. I … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 06/29/23
