The River Wild: 30th Anniversary

The River Wild: 30th Anniversary- Meryl Streep and Kevin Bacon Hold Up This Survival Thriller Quick Take: 30 years ago, Meryl Streep did her most action packed performance, playing a mom who has to use her particular set of skills to stop criminals and save her family. Later, Netflix made an ill advised remake, but we’re not talking about Bruno today. This is The River Wild, directed by Curtis Hanson, and starring Streep, Kevin Bacon, David Strathair, and john C. Reilly. It is a movie I’ve seen several times, and have loved every single one. I was just starting to … Continue reading The River Wild: 30th Anniversary

The Too Much TV Roundup- 09/13/23

*NSYNC is back! That’s your entire news bulletin at the top. I know it’s short, but, they did record a new song for the next Trolls movie. Also, apparently they made another Trolls movie. 11) Chip and Dale’s Rescue Rangers (Disney Plus) English Audio Description?: No Status: Ended I don’t expect linear storytelling, but to sudddenly watch an episode where I guess the Rangers are on another continent, and their aircraft is being worshipped by flightless Kiwi birds really made me think how the hell they got there. Then the whole episode becomes about Dale stubbing his toe and being … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 09/13/23

The Too Much TV Roundup- 09/07/23

I bet it just got a little more awkward for those of you rewatching That 70’s Show. Just a little bit? 10) Outlander (Starz) English Audio Description?: No Status: Final Season I’ve caught up with Season 7. Mistress Fraser is currently in jail for her supposed murder that I couldn’t tell had happened in Season 6, because there’s no audio description. There’s more context given here, and when the more likely murderer confesses, I understood more of it. But there were still lots of questions. Was she on a boat? Is that boat just not moving? Was that another time … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 09/07/23

I forgot Spectrum was Charter, so watching the people in my Facebook feed complaining about not being able to watch their games yesterday was fun. Hilariously, they all blamed Spectrum, and not ESPN. It’s sort of like the studios don’t realize how many people in this country are against them in the strike. They try to make it seem like an A-list actor wants more money, but most people know not to trust the CEO with the mega yacht. 11) Justified (Hulu) English Audio Description?: No Status: Revival Just Finished I’m close to finishing Season 3. This is a really … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 09/03/23

The Too Much TV Roundup- June 21st

Since starting doing this daily instead of weekly, i think I’ve always managed at least 5 shows. These January 6th hearings, plus trying to watch a movie everyday is throwing my rhythm off. And, you know, I don’t actually sit in front of a TV all day. 1) The Staircase (HBOMAX) English Audio Description Available?: Yes I was impressed pretty much right out of the gate with this HBO Limited series. No, I didn’t watch the Netflix doc. But, Colin Firth doesn’t usually, if ever, drop his accent, so hearing him pull off an American accent was interesting in itself. … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- June 21st

The Too Much TV Roundup- May 12th

I did squeez in a movie in and around all of these TV shows. On a side note, yesterday was a brutal red wedding for TV shows (and decisions still need to be made by ABC and fOX). CBS has said goodbye to Magnum PI, The United States Of Al, Be Positive, How We Roll, and Good Sam. (If I could save one of those five, it would be The United States of Al, though CBS is cutting back on comedies altogether, ordering no new sitcoms, and returning next year with just the four returnees). NBC cancelled The Endgame, Mr … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- May 12th
