The Runaway Bride: 25th Anniversary

Even though I’m pleased to report that this film has audio descritpion on Paramount Plus, it does always strike me as to what titles do and don’t. This title especially, because the audio description track sounds like it was made at least 10+ years ago, and with the way audio description tracks rarely travel, it was a pleasant surprise to see that this was something that someone had maintained this track. Kudos. A lot of my anniversary releases target films that have audio description. Runaway bride is not a significant classic, but it was quite the hype of its time, … Continue reading The Runaway Bride: 25th Anniversary

Movies With pride: The Normal Heart

I believe fairly recently, I mentioned to someone why I was taking the opportunity to celebrate Movies With Pride in the month of June. I’m a blind film critic, and my driving force in life is to change the perspective on how blind and low vision people do actually enjoy films, and that there’s just this massive problem in terms of getting the accessibility we need on a consistent basis. This month, I made it a point to track down some titles I hadn’t yet reviewed, at least from my blind perspective that highlight the LGBTQ community in impactful ways. … Continue reading Movies With pride: The Normal Heart

Steel Magnolias

Again, living out my Oscar shame. Though, Steel Magnolias surprisingly was not nominated for as many Oscars as I would have assumed. Thanks to AMC Plus, I was able to watch this without the accessibility I need. I think about the supposed streaming wars, and the inevitable collapse of streamers, and I kind of wonder if the ones that are doing things like ignoring accessibility features will survive. Food for thought. But, likely your local theatre will do Steel Magnolias at some point, so you might have to cross that bridge of getting audio description in live theatre. This is … Continue reading Steel Magnolias

Leave The World Behind

Where I Watched it: Netflix English Audio Description Provided By: International Digital Center Written By: Liz Gutman Narrated By Jabari Gray Cast: Julia Robert’s, Ethan Hawke, Mahershala Ali, Myha’al, Farrah Mackenzie, Charlie Evan’s, and Kevin Bacon. Written and Directed By: Sam Ismael I went through all the emotions while watching this roller coaster. I remember at the top of my YouTube review, I said this movie gets all the grades. It had me so confused, up and down, weird shit, great shit, experimental takes, great acting, bad acting, cool ideas, unoriginal ideas, and then right at the end… I realized. … Continue reading Leave The World Behind

Ticket To Paradise

Where I Watched It: Peacock English Audio Description?: Yes If you’ve been listening or reading Hollywood journalists, you’ve heard murmurs about the death of the star vehicle, or the bankable actor. The idea that a movie is opened by an actor alone, like how people just used to shw up to see films regardless of what they were about, because the film had their favorite star in them. Somehow, we’ve changed that landscape… yet not entirely. Ticket To Paradise is that exact thing that shouldn’t exist anymore. It’s a star vehicle created specifically just to merge the chemistry of George … Continue reading Ticket To Paradise

The Too Much TV Roundup- June 26th

I have nothing snarky to start this post today. Really. I don’t. 1) Hacks (HBo MAX) English Audio Description Available?: Yes This show is continued brilliance. This episode saw the gang at a state fair, and I don’t know which moment was funnier. Seeing Ava choke on one vitamin, or her comment about the 800 dollar pair of shoes that she knew would help get that Susan lady some serious commission. Great episode. Episode Grade: A 2) Breeders (FX/hulu) English Audio Description Available?: No I need to sit down in a room with the Emmy voters. We have to talk … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- June 26th

The Too Much TV Roundup- May 28th

So, this was a weird day for me. As I sit down and really think about the rankings, I realize that none of the episodes I watched were really deserving of an A grade. This might be the first day since I started doing the daily roundup that that is the case. And, the best things i did watch, didn’t have audio description. Welcome to my twilight zone. 1) Gaslit (Starz) English Audio Description Available?: No This Watergate drama continues to be compelling material. I almost gave this an A, except there are themes it picks up and drops, like … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- May 28th

The Too Much TV Roundup- May 22nd

Comparatively, considering how long this list has been in the past, this was a rather normal amount of television. At least, for me, it felt like it was. I’m sure for some people, this was still a lot. Also, oddly enough, the majority of these do not offer audio description. I spent most of the day watching Star Wars films. 1) Gaslit (Starz) English Audio Description Available?: No Even with the lack of audio description, and me being reliant upon another human to tell me what’s happening as the series progresses, I can still see that Julia Roberts is absolutely … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- May 22nd

The Too Much TV Roundup- May 15th

I’m about to reveal that I’ve been catching up on some shows. I always admit I’m a bit behind… but one of these shows started back in November. 1) The Walking Dead (AMC) English Audio Description Available?: No This show, now in its 11th and final season, is one of my favorite shows of all time. For the time I’ve been blind, which has been for a handful of seasons now, I have to go out of my way to navigate a way to watch this show. I used to watch this show with a group of friends on XBOX, … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- May 15th
