The Too Much TV Roundup- 07/31/23

RIP Paul Reubens. Such an unexpected blow. For a lot of people my age, he really helped to shape our childhoods. His Playhouse was a magnificent ball of fun, and his movies certainly were head scratchers for critics, but not kids. Thanks for the laughs, pee Wee. you certainly had an awfully big adventure. 13) FUBAR (Netflix) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Renewed I’m not sure all the ideas are still working. Between a breakup, and then also being spurned by Alden, things aren’t looking up for one member who also ends the episode in a precarious position. Meanwhile, Arnie … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 07/31/23

The Too Much TV Roundup- 07/24/23

Just a small note to kick us off today, if you happened to be one of those fans who loved Grease: Rise Of The Pink Ladies, and were broken when paramount Plus cancelled the series and dropped it, good news! It is getting a physical media release. So you can own it forever and ever. No word on if the audio description will follow it to the DVD release. 11) Futurama (Hulu) English Audio Description?: No Status: revival (Season 11) is now available. So I’m still on Season 2. It’s gonna take me a while to get to 11. The … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 07/24/23

I’ve been deep diving a bit more into the SAG-AFTRA talks and some of the stuff they’re requesting isn’t unreasonable. Actually, none of it is. Just take some of these CEO salaries, lower them, and you’ll have the money to pay for some of this stuff. Also, for the poor people without cable or Peacock, Yellowstone is coming to CBS in the fall since they are a little short on new programming. Add to that, the UK version of Ghosts, which I’m at least interested in checking out.

12) 8 Simple Rules (Disney plus) English Audio Description?: No Sorry, this was a tough day to rank, and 8 Simple Rules just felt like it missed a mark the most. This episode had a solid reference to Three’s Company, but squandered the “kids out of the house” moment by not letting the adults actually have any meaningful time together. john Ritter’s time on the show was fleeting, and I can’t help but think this missed a mark to show that Paul and Kate were more than just parents. What made it worse was that Kate tried so hard to … Continue reading I’ve been deep diving a bit more into the SAG-AFTRA talks and some of the stuff they’re requesting isn’t unreasonable. Emmy Nominations are being announced at 11:30EST this morning. may the odds be ever in your shows favor. Unless your show is Yellowstone. In which case, you’ll need much more than a Hunger Games quote for a show the Emmy voters continuously ignore. 11) American Born Chinese (Disney plus) English Audio Description: Yes Status: Not Yet Renewed Perhaps this should have been the pilot. It goes much deeper into the other realm of Monkey business this show hints at. it’s such a weird show. I feel like it’s this great 10,000 piece puzzle that the picture looks great on the … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 07/11/23

What a disappointing day of TV. 13) The Crowded Room (Apple Plus) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Limited So, the show is going to try and confuse you through poor direction and writing. Got it. If this turns out that he has a split personality disorder, and this is like identity, I’m calling it now. We open with a shooting, and then transition to Tom Holland sitting in an interrogation room, where he talks about his time in high school and buying weed. WHAT? Luckily, I love Holland, so I’ll give this one more episode, but that was an awful … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 07/09/23

Orphan First Kill

Where I Watched it: Paramount Plus English Audio Description?: Yes Critic’s Note: orphan First Kill was also a day and date theatrical, so it’s possible the audio description is the same, but i cannot confirm. 2nd Editor’s Note: This review will be written as if you have seen Orphan (the 2008 film), or are at least aware of how it ends. Man, two special notes before I even begin to review. That’s special. I first learned this movie existed just days before it was released, and my first thought was why are we getting a prequel 14 years later? Is … Continue reading Orphan First Kill

The Too Much TV Roundup- August 10th

Slow news day, but I finished one of my favorite shows of the year, so it’s a bittersweet ranking. 1) Shining Girls (Apple Plus) English Audio Description?: Yes My gift to the world would be this show. What an amazing finale that perfectly wrapped up the insanity of everything set up so far in the series, and also never needing to explain the magic behind the event. This came down to Kirby versus Harper, and the final hour really felt like a stand up and cheer type of hour, as the revelations kept coming, and I fell in love with … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- August 10th
