Tango And Cash: 35th Anniversary

Tango And Cash: 35th Anniversary- Sylvester Stallone + Kurt Russell = Lethal Weapons Quick Take: The 80’s knew how to make fun action films. We’ve confused many of them with being technically proficient, or film classics, but truthfully is there a difference between a fil that seems to have achieved a high level of filmmaking, or a film that achieved a high level of entertainment value, and has proven rewatchable as a result? Lethal Weapon and Beverly Hills Cop certainly come to mind, but the 80’s was full of fun buddy cop movies, including Tango And Cash. This Sylvester Stallone … Continue reading Tango And Cash: 35th Anniversary

Vanilla Sky

Where I Watched It: MGM Plus English Audio Description?: Yes Starring: Tom Cruise, Penelope Cruz, Cameron Diaz, Jason Lee, Kurt Russell, Timothy Spall, Noah Taylor, Tilda Swinton, Michael Shannon, Johnny Galecki, Ken Leung, and Alicia Witt. Written and Directed By: Cameron Crowe My Oscar shame tour is continuing up until Oscar nominations are announced, with me taking this time to review films I had never seen before that were nominated. MGM Plus had an odd selection, and most didn’t have audio description, or I had seen them. I landed on Vanilla Sky, which I have seen, because I figured time … Continue reading Vanilla Sky

The Small Screen Diaries- 01/09/2024

I was totally all ready to watch Echo yesterday morning during my workout period, and it turned out that it didn’t drop until later? Weird. Anyway, I’ll have thoughts on the first episode of that in the next episode. I really want to start by acknowledging the loss of Adan Canto, who fans might know from The Cleaning Lady, but I recognized from Designated Survivor. A rather surprising loss, as he was only 42. Also, I would be remiss in mentioning that MAX, in their continuing wisdom, has decided not to do a third season of Our Flag Means Death. … Continue reading The Small Screen Diaries- 01/09/2024

The Small Screen Diaries- 01/02/2024

Slowly moving into 2024, I’m getting closer and closer to finishing some series. One of those I’m close on is Fellow Travelers (Paramount Plus with Showtime), the excellent drama starring Matt Bomer and Jonathan Bailey as two men inexplicably forever linked through the passage of time. The latest episode I watched dealt with the murder of Harvey Milk, and that someone tried to blame their mental state on Twinkies. The jury actually had to deliberate for more than 5 minutes on that one, which highlights the absurdity of the period. But, Bomer was excellent as it turned out he was … Continue reading The Small Screen Diaries- 01/02/2024

Apparently Percy Jackson is doing solid numbers for Disney. Over 13M in the first week. Maybe the series will survive. 1) Bodies (Netflix) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Limited I may not always know what is going on, but as the series moves forward the series has intrigued me a lot. By episode 5, things are really starting to come together, and you can see characters understand what is going on. The Too Much TV Roundup- 12/19/23

HUGE TV news that was like a stake to my heart. This upcoming season of What We do In The Shadows will be its last. However, My Life With The Walter Boys (which is so totally on brand for Netflix) has already been renewed for a second season. 1) Everything Now (Netflix) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Unknown Another trigger warning, and this episode is great for expanding Mia’s brother. He has feelings too, and he’s barely had anything to do. Well, he’s greatly expanded after this episode. Sometimes, I forgot she had a brother. Episode Grade: B+ 2) Monarch … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 12/19/23

The Too Much TV Roundup- 12/12/23

Woke up to the tributes pouring in for Andre Braugher, who passed away at the age of just 61. He was such a brilliant actor, who could handle drama and comedy. I’m not going to lie and talk about how his performance on Homicide changed my life. I was young, and I never watched Homicide (or NYPD Blue for that matter). I think my favorite performance of his is as the Captain on Brooklyn Nine-Nine, as the seemingly normal one, who as you continued on with the series learned more and more about how eclectic he really was to match … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 12/12/23

The Too Much TV Roundup- 12/10/23

Today, the Golden Globes announce their nominations. Do I have any WILD predictions? Usually the Globes find a way of throwing love to new things, and acting like they are trendsetters. I noticed another critics group put him in their Best Actor list, so I actually gave Ramon Rodriguez a slot this year for Will Trent. That’s my boldest prediction on the TV side. If I get it right, I think I level up. 1) Blue Eye Samurai (Netflix) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Unknown I was thinking this would be a half hour anime, but this thing is an … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 12/10/23

But seriously, for the ninth entry in this franchise, Vin Diesel expertly gaslights you through an insanely improbable storyline, using a ton of flashbacks, to tie in a story and make it seem like it was always inevitable, and you just weren’t paying attention. Explaining the plot is a spoiler in itself, … Continue reading F9: The Fast Saga
