Saw 6

Just a dreadful franchise. I watched in sequential order, and knowing there were 10 of these, by the time I got sucked into Hoffman’s nonsense, I was checked out. Not only do I resent Saw 4-7, but I also now dislike Costas Mandylor as an actor, and a human being.I will forever associate him with the least interesting villain in a horror film, and the demise of a decent concept that is taken in a wild new direction. In the sixth film, Hoffman goes after the man who denied John’s insurance claim for a radical procedure not approved by the FDA … Continue reading Saw 6

Saw 4

As I continue working my way through the Saw franchise, we’ve officially arrived at what I like to call the Tales of Hoffman era. If there has ever been a less inspired replacement killer in horror history, I’m struggling to think of one. One thing the Saw sequels absolutely love doing is circling back to previous films and pretending there were major revelations hiding in plain sight the entire time. Weirdly enough, this is the only one of the first seven films not done by Descriptive Video Works, so even the narrator changes. It’s strange how noticeable that is once you’ve settled into a rhythm with these movies. I’m not sure the writing itself suffered because of it, but the film definitely feels heavier. More cluttered. Like the franchise is starting to collapse under the weight of its own mythology. … Continue reading Saw 3

10 Peacock Titles To Make Your Halloween Spooky

Just like last year, I’m compiling a list of films across the streaming services that I recommend this Spooky Season. I will also be watching and reviewing some new films. It’s possible that some titles are repeated from last year, as some titles are exclusive to streaming services. Today, I’m starting with peacock, which is universal’s streaming service, but has a disturbingly low amount of Universal titles available with audio description. My goal is to recommend films with audio description, and if I can get 10 good films all with AD on a service, I won’t need filler. However, some … Continue reading 10 Peacock Titles To Make Your Halloween Spooky
