Entrapment: 25th Anniversary

Entrapment: 25th Anniversary- The Film Sean Connery Made Instead Of The Matrix Quick Take: Entrapment isn’t a groundbreaking piece of cinema, but it is a fairly entertaining film from a very strong year full of movies. Sean Connery plays an experienced thief who is either being taken as a mark by Catherine Zeta-Jones, or she is actually a real thief herself, and her job is the cover. A game of cat and mouse is afoot, and for good measure, there’s a little bit of sexual tension between the generationally different leads, but it isn’t driving the story. In 1999, … Continue reading Entrapment: 25th Anniversary

The Garfield Movie

Sony has claimed the rights to this iconic character, and considering the last cinematic effort is not necessarily beloved, you would think that they’d be able to raise that bar. After all, the 20 year old Garfield movie featuring Bill Murray isn’t on anyone’s favorites list. Well, I think this is maybe a reason to revisit our feelings about that original Bill Murray version, because this one seems to have been written by artificial intelligence. Instead of Bill Murray, we now have Chris Pratt, in yet another animated voice performance. He’s not the worst choice for the lazy lasagna loving … Continue reading The Garfield Movie

The instigators

This has been a weird year for Apple Studios. It follows after they tried to make some box office headway last year with their major Oscar releases Killers Of The Flower Moon and Napoleon to middling results. Then, Argylle flopped, I’m not sure Fancy Dance had much more than a qualifying run, and The Instigators basically got the same treatment, though isn’t an awards contender. Doug Liman is reteaming with Matt Damon after kicking off the Jason Bourne franchise with him 22 years ago, and it also marks his second directorial effort after Amazon’s road House remake. The Instigators also … Continue reading The instigators

I wish they had a better name for that. For it to be as freakishly powerful as it supposedly is, it should pack a scarier punch. Not everyone has loved this entry, and for various reasons. I think we’ve come to expect a lot from these … Continue reading Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part 1

Wendell and Wild

Where I Watched It: Netflix Audio Description provided by: International Digital Center Written By: Liz gutman Narrated By: Sri Gordon I know most critics just hop in and do their thing, but I’m not them. I have to admit, there are moments even with terrific audio description, that i still find things where I get more depressed than excited or elated, because my inability to visually see something, or participate in the way I would have been able to a few years ago is now totally different becomes apparent in something. Here, I’m aware Wendell and Wild is a Henry … Continue reading Wendell and Wild

Won’t Back Down

WON’T BACK DOWN Cast: Maggie Gyllenhaal, Viola Davis, Oscar Issac, Holly Hunter, Rosie Perez, Ving Rhames, Emily Alyn Lind, Lance Reddick Written By: Brin Hill, Daniel Barnz Directed By: Daniel Barnz Surprisingly, this isn’t the first film by Daniel Barnz. He previously directed the little-seen Phoebe In Wonderland, and the floptastic Beastly. After the box office for Won’t Back Down, I doubt we’ll be seeing much of him as a feature director. The truth is, that despite the stellar cast, Won’t Back Down never feels like it’s anything more than a made-for-TV movie. It’s a Hallmark “Movie of the Week”. … Continue reading Won’t Back Down
