My Favorite Martian: 25th Anniversary

My Favorite Martian: 25th Anniversary- Does It Hold Up? Did It Ever? Quick Take: So, I only have passing knowledge of the TV show, and this was my first time watching this. Not every movie stands the test of time, and much like the 90’s adaptation of Leave it To Beaver, I’m pretty sure this has been buried. I’m surprised it had audio description on Disney Plus. The cast is intriguing, ranging from Jeff Daniel’s and Christopher Llloyd to Elizabeth Hurley and Wallace Shawn. Did it stand the test of time? Honestly, if this was the 10th Anniversary, I’d answer … Continue reading My Favorite Martian: 25th Anniversary

Marriage Story

Somehow, and I really don’t know why, I never watched Noah Baumbach’s Marraige Story upon release. Not only does the film have audio description, and it’s not very old, but it is a Netflix original. What the hell have I been doing with my life? So, in opening up my Oscar Shame period, I admit that I needed to right this wrong, and I’ve now seen this. It is amazing. Stunning. The cast is exceptional. I would hand out nominations right on down the line. Best Picture, Director, Actor (Adam Driver), Actress (Scarlett Johansson), and if we are giving a nod … Continue reading Marriage Story

The Small Screen Diaries- 01/09/2024

I was totally all ready to watch Echo yesterday morning during my workout period, and it turned out that it didn’t drop until later? Weird. Anyway, I’ll have thoughts on the first episode of that in the next episode. I really want to start by acknowledging the loss of Adan Canto, who fans might know from The Cleaning Lady, but I recognized from Designated Survivor. A rather surprising loss, as he was only 42. Also, I would be remiss in mentioning that MAX, in their continuing wisdom, has decided not to do a third season of Our Flag Means Death. … Continue reading The Small Screen Diaries- 01/09/2024

Good news for fans of Las Vegas. Not the town, but the early 2000’s series that ran for five seasons with James Caan and Josh Duhmael. It is making its Peacock debut on Friday. No idea if it has audio description. Unlikely, but we might be pleasantly surprised. 1) Neon (Netflix) English Audio Description Provided By: XTrax Status: not Yet Renewed Our fledgling reggaeton artist is too star struck to see he’s being used. It’s weird to say that the drug dealing crime lord has a point, but he’s not a gimmick, or a boy toy. And the fact that … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 12/23/23

Yesterday was the nominations for the Critics Choice Film section, and my quick hot take is: they are more concerned with being a bellwether for predicting the Oscar’s that they aren’t doing anything interesting anymore. I think their choices are solid, and mostly what everyone is talking about, with very few exceptions. It’s just that I’ve spent the whole year listening to critics all over the internet talk about their undying love of Past Lives, and how much they want to give Selene Song an Oscar nomination in director, or how is’t a shame that Tao Yoo and John Meggaro … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 12/13/23

Apple Plus has pulled the plug on Central Park after three seasons. I stopped watching after the first, so this is not something I’m deeply invested in. Are you? 1) Bodies (Netflix) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Limited This should be a fun plane to land. A high concept British drama about the same dead body inexplicably appearing in many different time periods. I can’t imagine the production value for this, showing all these various time periods in Britain, while also having cast members who are needed to flesh out each period in what seems like a monstrous undertaking. The … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 12/03/23

Nothing too big in the TV world. The CW confirmed what we already assumed, that this is the final season of The CW… I mean… Superman and Lois. It marks the final show to be cancelled in the once dominant DC Arrowverse that started with the Stephen Amell led series, and birthed spinoffs The Flash, Supergirl, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Batwoman, Superman and Lois, and arguably also Stargirl and Swamp Thing, though those were originally created for DC’s streaming service. The new CW seems less interested in making their own programming, and instead repurposing Canadian, British, and Australian shows. 9) … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 11/02/23

The Haunted Mansion (2003)

Where I Watched It: Disney plus English Audio Description provided By: Deluxe Narrated By: Alexander Graham Justin Simian has a remake/reboot that will be the next thing i review, but I decided to give this Eddie Murphy version a second chance. it wasn’t as bad as I remembered it, and it probably never was. Honestly, Murphy had this period where he didn’t seem to be reading the scripts, and directors just let him do his thing, and that is all over this movie. There’s also a weird subplot that involves why his family is drawn to the mansion in the … Continue reading The Haunted Mansion (2003)

I haven’t watched it yet, but the new Rick and Morty voice cast premiered last night. Also, I truthfully decided to start watching Step By Step after noticing it on FreeVee, and a few hours later I saw Suzanne Somers died. I’m very weirded out about how that worked out. 9) 9) Fright Crew (Hulu) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Unknown Eli Roth produced this 10 episode animated show aimed at… I’m not really sure. A tentative deal has been reached between the studios and the writers. The details have yet to be made public, but should be shortly as the membership has to vote on it. An official vote by leadership happens on Tuesday, which will solidify this a bit more, and possibly allow some writers to return to work. Most writers will have to wait until the contract is fully ratified by the WGA as a whole, but writers for talk shows are expected to resume possibly later this week, as all they need is for Tuesday’s vote to pass. 11) Daryl Dixon … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 09/24/23

I forgot Spectrum was Charter, so watching the people in my Facebook feed complaining about not being able to watch their games yesterday was fun. Hilariously, they all blamed Spectrum, and not ESPN. It’s sort of like the studios don’t realize how many people in this country are against them in the strike. They try to make it seem like an A-list actor wants more money, but most people know not to trust the CEO with the mega yacht. 11) Justified (Hulu) English Audio Description?: No Status: Revival Just Finished I’m close to finishing Season 3. The WGA is attempting to sit down and begin talks again, and we shall see how that progresses. I think the Television Producers would prefer to have writers back first, working on scripts for the actors to actually shoot once they resolve the SAG strike.. 12) The Horror Of Delores Roach (Amazon) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Not Yet Renewed I keep hoping I’ll like this story more. I want Justina Machado to have a hit new series, I’m just not sure this is it. It’s very much her telling her own version of the story, but it feels clunky. … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 08/10/23
