Best Of 2023: Top 10 Animated Series

I’m making a greater focus on audio description and the importance of it in 2024. every title on this list has audio description at least in some part. So, for my first in a long list to come of celebrations of the best work of 2023, here is the list, with titles and where you can watch them. Well, the wrong costume won The Masked Singer. Not the one I was rooting for, although, when the winner was revealed, I can’t say that’s a bad person to have on top. Also, Starz is seemingly trying to just turn into the Power network. After rapidly cancelling Heels earlier this year, and recently announcing the upcoming 3rd season of Hightower will be its last, they just cancelled Shining Veil. Really, I’m at a point with Starz that since they offer no accessibility, if they cancel Minx, I really don’t know why I would continue to subscribe. I’d rather save that … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 12/20/23

Woke up to the tributes pouring in for Andre Braugher, who passed away at the age of just 61. He was such a brilliant actor, who could handle drama and comedy. I’m not going to lie and talk about how his performance on Homicide changed my life. I was young, and I never watched Homicide (or NYPD Blue for that matter). I think my favorite performance of his is as the Captain on Brooklyn Nine-Nine, as the seemingly normal one, who as you continued on with the series learned more and more about how eclectic he really was to match … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 12/12/23

Not a ton of new TV news, but I did see that MAX is slating Season 3 of And Just Like That for 2025. So, all you SATC fanatics have to find something else to do in 2024. 1) Bodies (Netflix) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Limited Still a very complex series. I realized one of the timelines is in the future, and that wasn’t even the weirdest part. They think they might know whose body it is, so one of the detectives in one of the timelines drops a cool end to the episode. Honestly, it’s just a ton … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 12/06/23

NBC has decided to stick with its Freshmen dramas Found and The Irrational for a second season. Hopefully, they stick with Quantum Leap as well. Especially if they are sticking with the incredibly formulaic Irrational. 1) Chucky (Peacock) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Still going You know, in the season 2 finale, when Chucky starts reading about the silent chainsaw… I knew we were going to see that in action. I did not think it would be used in the way that it was. And for so long. Jesus. A bit much even for this show. That Caroline part was … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 11/29/23

Well, looks like Jenna Ortega is unable to film Scream 7 due to Wednesday, so the world just became a lot less interested in a 7th entry… unless they pay up to reunite Nevé Campbell with her franchise. Maybe even Patrick Dempsey? Just a thought. Also, a Happy Thanksgiving to yours today. Enjoy all the food. However you eat, may it be plentiful and delicious. 1) The Witcher (Netflix) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Renewed It’s hard to tell exactly what the plans are for the next season without Henry Cavill, but they seem to be turning Siri into her … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 11/22/23

Yesterday, I did a Speed Round, and I chose to list the shows in order I watched them, instead of ranking them. I actually kind of like that format better, so I’m sticking with it. Unless you guys riot, in which case, I’ll still probably keep doing it. We will not negotiate with terrorists! Or Netflix, apparently, which cancelled five shows yesterday. II was personally most upset that Glamorous wouldn’t be getting a second season, as I thought the ensemble had strong chemistry, and Agent Elvis was fun, but I know fans of Shadow and Bone worked really hard to … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 11/15/23

The SAG strike is over, and within minutes actors were being notified of projected start dates for filming so that shows can air some episodes in the spring. Many shows aren’t looking at being able to do more than 10, though some are hoping for 13.Most new shows are being shifted to next season, so don’t expect to see a lot of unfamiliar far. I do wonder how shows with visual effects will pan out, like the already shortened third (and rumored final) season of Labrea. Movies are also set to resume filming, with Venom 3 even looking at having … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 11/08/23

I’m not sure anything major happened in the realm of television yesterday, but I will mention that MAX is rushing The Nun 2 onto the service before Halloween. I was pretty busy, so it’s a short list today. 5) 5) Shelter (Amazon) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Not Yet Renewed These shows where adults unleash massive conspiracies where teens have to uncover and save the day is just a very odd thing we do in film and television. This show is a lot for these kids. I honestly found more enjoyment in the Phantom auditions, although I call shenanigans. The … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/20/23

I haven’t watched it yet, but the new Rick and Morty voice cast premiered last night. Also, I truthfully decided to start watching Step By Step after noticing it on FreeVee, and a few hours later I saw Suzanne Somers died. I’m very weirded out about how that worked out. 9) 9) Fright Crew (Hulu) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Unknown Eli Roth produced this 10 episode animated show aimed at… I’m not really sure. Eli clearly wants to go hard, so there are some things and themes here that feel targeted for maybe middle school to high school aged … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/15/23
