Starring: Dale Pavinski, Alex Ashbaugh, Lili Mirojnick, Andrea Navedo, Daniel Booko, Dio Johnson
Directed By: Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer
So, the good news is that this is neither the worst film I’ve seen this year, nor is it the worst film from the duo of Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer. It’s not a good film though. It’s just like… when your dog poops, and it doesn’t smell, and you’re excited because you won’t have to smell it. It’s still shit, just not awful smelly shit. It’s also somehow still a better film than Aloha.
As you might have figured out, the movie is a spoof of the Fast and Furious franchise. I’m actually laughed few times. However, I spent most of the film rolling my eyes, and groaning at a ton of missed jokes. Ashbaugh as the spoof of Paul Walker’s character and Johnson as the spoof of The Rock’s character actually have a few funny moments. Ashbaugh channels his best Bill and Ted, and Johnson really mimics The Rock pretty well.
So, minor props to Friedberg and Seltzer for making something that wasn’t completely awful. Just a little awful.
FINAL GRADE: D+
