Actor Profile: Ice Cube

Having just seen Barbershop: The Next Cut, my next profile is Ice Cube, who I was surprised had a bunch of films I’ve never seen. I’m surprised I haven’t seen 20 films with Ice Cube yet. I feel like I have because he’s been around for so long now. 20+ years in film. Not bad.

BEST PERFORMANCE:
Based on the roles of his that I’ve seen, I have to go with Three Kings. Definitely the role he showed the most range on, and challenged him the most dramatically.

MOST ICONIC PERFORMANCE:
Friday. Bye Felicia just recently became a thing, so I know people are still watching Friday.

MOST UNDERRATED PERFORMANCE:
I’d say he was pretty good in Barbershop: The Next Cut, but nobody really talks about how funny he is in 21 Jump Street or 22 Jump Street.

BEST PERFORMANCE I’VE HEARD WAS GOOD AND HAVEN’T SEEN
Oh, definitely Boyz In The Hood. It was his breakthrough performance, and it’s a classic film everyone talks about that I just have never seen.

WORST PERFORMANCE/FILM:
Tie between Torque and Ghosts Of Mars, neither of which are very good films. Ghosts of Mars was so bad, John Carpenter quit directing for a while, not doing another film until 2010’s The Ward. An he was freaking John Carpenter before he made that. You’d think his career would have withstood one shitty film.

Films/Roles I’ve Seen:
1) Friday (1995)
2) Anaconda (1997)
3) Three Kings (1999)
4) Next Friday (2000)
5) Ghosts Of Mars (2001)
6) All About The Benjamins (2002)
7) Barbershop (2002)
8) Friday After Next (2002)
9) Torque (2004)
10) Barbershop 2 (2004)
11) Are We There Yet? (2005)
12) XXX: State Of The Union (2005)
13) 21 Jump Street (2012)
14) Ride Along (2014)
15) 22 Jump Street (2014)
16) Barbershop: The Next Cut (2016)
