A busy day, but I’m never too busy to at least tell you my opinions on a few shows.
5) 5) Little Demon (FX/Hulu)
English Audio description?: No
In a very strong and tight race, the show that loses out first is the one without audio description. While this show has funny moments written in the dialogue that work no matter what, it has consistently proven that it also has the challenge of fighting numerous demon fight sequences. Someone is always getting murdered, obliterated, chopped, or otherwise maimed, and in those more action heavy sequences is how this actually potentially interesting show routinely fails.
Episode Grade: B
4) Abbott Elementary (ABC/Hulu)
English Audio Description?: Yes
Aside from me getting the unintentional hilarious moment of Abbott Elementary playing Red Light Green light after the height of Squid Game, it’s been part of this seasons episodes where I feel like Season 1 knocked it out of the park, and now season 2 is trying to capture that magic, but I have yet to see an episode this season that screams instant classic like so many from the first season.
Episode Grade: B+
3) Home Economics (ABC/Hulu)
English Audio Description?: Yes
After introducing the half sister last week, I was wondering how Casey Wilson would fit into the cast. Well, she was nowhere to be found in this episode that centered around the siblings telling their dad, without telling their mom, that he fathered another child. Of course nothing ever goes as planned. So, We have to wait however long to see Casey Wilson again, I guess.
Final Grade: A-
2) The mighty Ducks: Game Changers (Disney Plus)
English Audio Description?: Yes
I’m so curious as to who will be showing up after Bombay supposedly gave her that number. My long time dream for this series is to see Joshua Jackson return as Charlie. Even for just one episode. I hope it’s him. I’m pretty sure it’s not, but I will wish upon that star.
Episode Grade: A-
1) Ghosts (PAramount Plus/CBS)
English Audio Description?: Yes
The living find out that their neighbors are swingers, Sam finds Thor’s son that came looking for him and died just shouting distance from the house, but turmoil happens when Thor realizes his son married a Dane. And you just do NOT marry Danes. But the reason that this episode tops the list for the day is that I love when a show can poke fun at itself, and this episode did it in spectacular fashion when they openly discussed how the ghosts can sit on furniture but they also walk through walls. This revelation blows Flower’s mind, with her asking questions throughout the episode like “If the wall was made of couch, would I not be able to walk through it?” Perfection. Much appreciated.
