Well, I finished up a show for the season. Should provide for a different list come next Monday.
6) The Great North (FOX/Hulu)
English Audio Description?: No
Despite a solid joke about cleaning up the septic system and HVAC, what had two storylines ended up with its best parts being not related to the progression of either. That store in the mall presenting weird gravy flavors as some kind of ice cream was far more interesting than anything that happened in The Golden Monocle part. Kind of a swing and a miss, a rarity for this show.
Episode Grade: B-
5) Celebrity Jeopardy (ABC/Hulu)
English Audio Description?? Yes
The questions seemed slightly harder for the semi-finalists, and I’m really pulling for some kind of diversity to make it through to the third spot.
Episode Grade: B+
4) This Fool (Hulu)
English Audio Description?: yes
This recently renewed sitcom has some tremendous audio description. The 6th episode of the season featured predominantly Spanish dialogue, which left our narrator doing all the voices for a host of characters. And how did he manage that? It sounded like the audio team pitched his voice using their tools to create a range of Chipmunk sounding voices. For the females, his voice sounded like he had just inhaled some helium. It’s kind of brilliant, when your show doesn’t have the budget to bring in more than one guy. Very interesting.
Episode Grade: B+
3) East New York (CBS/Paramount Plus)
English Audio Description?: No
Rotating audio description finally hit East New York, and did so on an interesting episode where the gang was trying to solve the case of a rapist who was shot by a victim whose case was not prioritized by the SVU. It’s not that he was found innocent, they didn’t really bother to look into it because it was an acquaintance rape. Had this episode had audio description, I would have flipped it over my number 2 pick, but when two shows have the same score, the one without AD tends to be on the bottom.
Episode Grade: A-
2) The Imperfects (Netflix)
English Audio Description?: Yes
Yeah, even though Netflix cancelled this, I’m going to finish it. I would have recommended it, but I have a hard time recommending a show to you guys that has no future. this one is just for me, because I got hooked. This show deserved better.

1) The Handmaid’s Tale (Hulu)
English Audio Description?: Yes
Man, what a finale. I really thought the show might axe its lead there for a second, and pull a Rick Grimes. You think June can’t be harmed, but wouldn’t that be a doozy if she was? Also, can we *please* give Samira Wiley something to actually do next season? if I were Wiley, I’d pull a Katherine Heigl and refuse to submit myself for Emmy consideration, stating that the writers gave her nothing to do, so why throw her name in the race? Put the pressure on the writers to give her something else to do other than just pass along information, be a sounding board for people to unleash their feelings, and be really good at holding a baby. Samira Wiley is fierce as shit and deserves much better. This episode though, was a great way to leave viewers wanting more, and that’s what a season finale is supposed to be.
