8 shows and a movie. That’s what I accomplished, around life stuff. And it looks like no more cancellations for at least one day.
8) The Mysterious Benedict Society (Disney Plus)
English Audio Description?: Yes
Now the gang is split up, lots of fighting, Kate is mad at her dad, Sticky is mad at Constance, and somehow I can’t keep but thinking there must have been a better second season.
Episode Grade: B-
7) George and Tammy (Paramount Plus)
English Audio Description?: No
I can’t help but think that I’m missing so much in this quieter than you’d expect drama. Sure, there are moments, and some of the sparsely used music is solid. But these are troubled characters in troubled times. In the second episode, we have an entire child being born, and that whole sequence to follow. I put up with Let The Right One In because the story is rewarding, but here, I’m wading through something less interesting, but well acted. Audio description could do a lot for me here. It’s a shame that accessibility is not a priority for Paramount Plus.

6) The Crown (Netflix)
English Audio Description?: Yes
As we bounce around through timelines, the “Diana season” that never ends keeps slowly chugging along, trying to milk any possible drama out of her existence as possible. in this episode, we are *still* stuck on the Bashir interview.
Episode Grade: B-
5) Firefly Lane (Netflix)
English Audio Description?: Yes
I’m really hoping we can get Katherine Heigl a better show. This episode, which I believe is the third of the second season, went with the earth shattering controversy that a character I’m pretty sure we discovered last season was gay, is in fact, gay. Maybe I am fever dreaming a different first season, but I felt like we just repeated something we’d already been through.
Episode Grade: B-
4) The Recruit (Netflix)
English Audio Description?: Yes
A general counsel for the CIA gets in a bit over his head. The tone here is somewhat comedic, but it doesn’t have to be all the time. Like, when the two goons show up, neither one of them was believably menacing, and seemed to graduate from the Bebop and Rocksteady school of uselessness. I don’t know about this one. It has potential, but there were moments in the pilot that let me know… I’m pretty sure they’re going to squander it.
episode Grade: B
3) Kindred (Hulu)
English Audio Description?: Yes
This show was described to me in an entirely different way. i would say this requires a lot of attention. While this show is close to what I thought it was, it has a much deeper mystery to it, and while I’m here for it, I just wasn’t ready for it. I literally thought this was like an Outlander thing, but with a different circumstance. It’s not that cut and dry.
Episode Grade: A-
2) The Connors (ABC/Hulu)
English Audio Description?: Yes
Another episode that waxes poetic on the memory of Roseanne. Why do I feel like we are about to get her in some flashback cameo soon? Are they prepping us for that? Did she make peace with the show? Who knows, but I’m picking up what they seem to be throwing down. The missing cast members this time were Louise and Neville, which makes sense considering what the episode was about.
Episode Grade: A-
1) Tulsa King (paramount Plus)
English Audio Description?: Yes
The series with the worst audio description continues to charm. i was starting to be on the fence, until our favorite weed dealer started trying to explain crypto to Stallone. I’m still annoyed that he let Stacy yell at him without ever mentioning that the guy she’s so angry about was actively firing on him. Would she prefer he died instead? She needed the full story, and while some of acknowledgement could have gotten him in trouble, I think a creative line would have stopped her nonsense.
