The Small Screen Diaries- 05/25/24

I’ve been finishing a lot of shows. but, maybe I’ll need to start one soon. Amazon is bringing back Nurse Jackie. I should probably start watching that now. In terms of finales, I did get to The Connors (Hulu) which really made me think that they were going to resolve that Mark plot in the same episode, but I guess we will wait for him to inevitably be arrested next season. In the final season. I always find the amalgamation of cast that they have in each episode interesting, as they talk around characters who aren’t there. Ben’s off getting the magazine started. Of course he is.

I don’t need to discuss this in depth, but I will say that last week I predicted the final two of The Masked Singer, and I got one right. That’s all you need to know. Her one clue was so specific it couldn’t have been anyone else.

Surprisingly, the only two that I finished, though Outer Range (Amazon) is really welcome back in my rotation. This show is getting even deeper into the lore, and I really hope Amazon renews this for another season. I feel like it barely got a second. Hopefully everyone is caught up and watching this now. Roy Samuelson’s narration is really solid as well.

Bodkin (Netflix) has a really strong 4th episode. It also ended on a moment that felt like the show was about to be thrown a curveball. how do you keep investigating when there’s an extradition order for you? I guess we shall see. It’s not like the police in this town like her.

Another episode of Velma (MAX) which suggested a character might still be alive. And Velma clearly doesn’t like the new Wiccan girl hanging out with Daphne.

Sugar (Apple Plus) is honestly so nuts by Episode 7, I can’t even discuss it anymore. This show took a hard left, and there are now elements in this series that would be huge spoilers. Just know, I watched the 7th episode, and I’m so curious. SO curiou about that ending to the episode. Also, does Apple plan on doing a second season? What would that look like now that presumably everyone would know? This is like on of those m. Night Shyamalan twists.

Another episode of Elzabeth (Paramount Plus) which had such a weird rollout, where it dropped one episode in February, and later had back-to-back episodes. But, Keegan Michael Key guest starred this week, and we seem almost at the season finale. Whose side is Elzabeth on? The truth.

I also watched S4E5 of Friends (MAX) just as time filler, which is worth mentioning since it has audio description. Hearing Matthew Perry say ‘I could literally die” was a little chilling. But, it’s the episode where Ross thinks he’s got this hot new girlfriend, who really just needs a babysitter.

And, since I watch the Traitors from other countries, even though it doesn’t have audio description, this season of Australia, we need to talk. I’m at the final five now. So, spoilers. But, if these traitors fuck this up, this should go down as the most selfish and dumbest group of people. They have actually managed to do the impossible. The ads for the next episode suggests they are all going to go full stupid, and to the Traitors of Australia, if you somehow lose this… at this point… may God have mercy on your souls. for the uninitiated still reading, they have successfully outnumbered the faithful. So, the final five has three Traitors. They control ALL remaining votes. All they need is to vote together, and they can eliminate a faithful to go to the final four, where they can vote to end the game. Even if the remaining faithful votes to eliminate, they can still eliminate the remaining faithful. It’s at THAT point, when only Traitors remain, shit could get interesting. But to have all three traitors in the finale… why wouldn’t you want that power? It’s a guaranteed victory. If you start playing with your numbers, there’s still a chance the faithful could eliminate the remaining traitors. it is far more important right now to continue to have the consensus vote. please, don’t fuck this up.
