The Testaments- I knew I wasn’t missing much by skipping prom when I was in High School. Sadly, Agnes, Daisy, Becca, and the others aren’t given the option to opt out, and have to be presented to the Commanders. Each girl is hoping to be married into a nice Commander, and also a high ranking one. There definitely is a sliding scale here, as Agnes seems to dance with one who seems pleasant (all things considered), interacts with Commander Judd who is pleasant (all things considered), and her not-father Commander Mackenzie seems genuinely concerned about her. She’s still trying to figure out what happened to her in the last episode, and Agnes is the primary narrator. There’s AD of course, which isn’t Agnes, but they do a nice job of describing the mundane quality of this weird dating ritual.
The Night Agent- Peter tracks Isabelle only to discover A SHOCKING SECRET. actually, more than one, but at least one. The episode also reveals how the Assassin Father got a son, and how that relationship is going. Chelsea is onto the First Lady, and it is pretty obvious POTUS has no clue what his wife is up to.Jacob also tries to make an offer, but is rebuffed. He feels like the kind of guy you don’t want to rebuff, but then again, Assassin Dad is like John Wick, so who knows. The AD was pretty solid. A lot happened, and I didn’t get lost or confused. There was one odd choice, but I still understood it. I’m not sure I would have gone with “the door closer”, where Isabelle wraps a cord around “the door closer, but it’s not like I didn’t understand what was happening either.
Talamaska- Good and Bad. The Good being of course that Talamaska now has audio description on AMC Plus. The bad is that AMC Plus had already cancelled the Interview With A Vampire spinoff. Watching the show suddenly with audio description halfway through the season was oddly jarring, pleasantly so. It was like flipping on a light switch, or that feeling you get when after being sick, you realize you can breathe through your nose again and smells have returned.
Twisted Yoga- This nasty ass real life event has concluded, and I’m appalled at how at the end of every episode is like five minutes of everyone denying wrongdoing. Can someone apologize to these fucking women? Jesus. Stay away from cults y’all.
Dreaming Whilst Black- There’s a lovely reunification of two characters who broke up because one was poor, and felt unworthy. I always like the irreverent side of the humor in this series, but there are some genuinely charming moments as well for a show I might be the only person watching. The AD was OK. I’m not overly excited, but there wasn’t much to get into except some awkward table manners at dinner.
