It is the beginning of Pride month, so look at that. Happy Pride. Also, Marilyn Monroe would be 100.

The Wonderfools- AI description, and a cheap dub cast. There was a scene where I’m fairly certain one guy was doing all three voices in the same conversation, because it was impossible to follow. This is a “people with powers” Sci-fi comedy from Korea, and the AI AD from IDC is OK. The pilot for this is hard to gauge, since it feels like it wants to be an ensemble show, but focuses 80% on one character. I wanted to expand my show knowledge before I submit another ballot on Thursday.
Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed- Squeezed in another episode, only to find out it is ineligible. Go figure. You must air half your season within the time frame, which this did not, and therefore is in some grey no awards area. Shame, because it is a wonderful show, and Tatiana Maslany is terrific in it. The AD is by a narrator I feel like I’ve never heard before.
Off Campus- Already renewed for Season 2, and it has fans, but I’m not sure it is an awards contender. It feels like a well written college drama, and that’s about it. There’s a love triangle, and I’m sure it’ll play out the way I think it will. The AD here is perfectly fine. If you like shows like this or Overcompensating, you should like this.
Malcolm In The Middle- the reboot is strange and unnecessary. It feels like it is trying to do far too much fan service, while not really evolving a plot or reason to exist. Just like a check in on characters people liked 20 years ago. The problem is, Bryan Cranston’s next gig is WAY better. The AD here is Zoo digital and it’s fine.
The Comeback- Trying to catch up on this, and the Ad here is not something I would endorse. It feels like something I’m certain someone else could do a better pass on. This is a mirage in the desert, looks promising, but what you really want is the actual oasis.
Stranger Things: Tales From The Kids- I liked the series in the beginning, and now I’m wondering if it has legs. I don’t like it as much already in episode 4 as I did at the beginning, which already was below the live action show. Why did this happen? I do love that the Ad narration is the same, Jamie Lemcheck, even if she did only do the final season.
Last Week Tonight- John Oliver unpacks Presidential Pardons, and the people who shouldn’t have gotten them, and they aren’t all January 6th rioters either. He pardons people he likes, regardless of their crimes.
Matlock- Maddie needs to get some paperwork to help with the case, so some clandestine work happens, while the team helps a kid trying to solve his father’s hit and run, and Joey is MIA. Still solid audio description for this series.
