Big week for returning shows. House Of The Dragon just came back last night, with the final season of The Bear dropping this week, as well as the second season of Avatar: The Last Airbender on Netflix, and The Agency with Michael Fassbender on Paramount Plus. And don’t forget, Avatar: Fire and Ash lands on Disney Plus on Wednesday.

From- Cheap trick suddenly creating a character out of thin air in Clara. Not only do we know nothing aobut her, but the conversation/bargain she apparently had with Sophia was off screen, so it feels kinda cheap. A lot of regulars have next to nothing to do in an episode dominated by Sophia, Tabitha, Boyd, and to some extent the Victor/Henry drama. I’ve seen finale spoilers, and I can already see a problem with them based on an implied death this episode, and it feels weird someone who got to see the final 2 episodes early wouldn’t mention Clara at all.But, if the spoilers are right, we’d lose four or five regulars in the finale. The AD here is still solid, and I love how it described the creatures moving through the passages.
Star City- I’m trying to figure out if I like any of these characters, aside from me being a fan of Rhys Ifans as a character. It feels like it is shaping up way more in favor of Russian spying than actual space travel. There’s far more listening and spying going on than actual astronaut or cosmonaut stuff. The AD is great though, being the same as For All Mankind.
Million Dollar Secret- Still catching up, and while our first millionaire this season was super obvious during his challenge, so was Nick, who screams millionaire to me. Somehow, they don’t figure it out, and the killshot is in play, but Netflix edits weird, so we have to wait until next episode to find out who, even though no one was eliminated within this episode. The AD here is very strong for a competition reality show.
Top Chef- This is barely adequate, mostly just naming people, but I can kinda keep up with one of my favorite long running series with a dab of description. She-Ra narrates here, and the numbers are whittled down to the Top Six as Danielle Brooks is a guest judge.
Pop Culture Jeopardy- Pretty standard description, but still very good for a game show. there just wasn’t a specific moment that screamed visual cue.
Matlock- The team is defending a man accused of negligence leading to a death, and maybe he was on a medication. There’s a BIG twist at the end, discovered by Julian. How the team gets past that will define the finale. Excellent Ad as usual.
Hacks- DJ comes back, and convinces her mom to do Celebrity Amazing Race with her, while Ava works to get the rights to Deborah’s old sitcom. This AD track shows its weakness in amazing race, as there are clearly a few celebrity cameos here, but good fucking luck. The AD only uses first names, and while I picked up on Property Brothers, I have no idea who the others were. I could look it up, but I shouldn’t have to.
