It’s looking good for a trip to the theater today. In the meantime, Amazon announced that Reacher is returning in August for its fourth season (it is already renewed for Season 5), followed by Neagle, the spinoff which launches immediately after Reacher’s season finale in September.

Detective Hole- Still not renewed, but Netflix bothered to slap some audio description on it, so i ahve to assume it is somewhat of a priority. It is an interesting dynamic to set up two of the officers as good and bad, and then throw a serial killer into the mix so Hole has to work with someone he knows is corrupt, just likely not corrupt on this particular case, until he can prove it. TTS audio description, but far from the worst I’ve heard.
Spider-Noir- Ben gets a rude awakening, and the other specials realize how few of them are left as Silvermane attempts to find more like the three he has. Media Access Group and Brianna Leon do some fun work here. I choose black and white, so I’m always intrigued at how the show handles color. Here, they dodge it, by referring to blood as blood, and not red, as most people would assume that’s what it was. They don’t need to lean into it, which would ruin the black and white effect. Amazon has yet to renew the series, but was quick to pick up Every Summer After, so perhaps this is just too expensive for them. Supposedly, the series cost 400 million. That’s a fuck load of money, and wasted, as a lot of that was due to reshoots for the color version. If Season 2 does come about, look for them to save on budget by picking a lane.
The Bear- This is the least exciting start to a new season of The Bear, though I hear the last half of the season slaps. So, I ahve to get there, I suppose. It dabbles in conflict, pushing us closer to the final service in an against all odds scenario.Roy Samuelson is doing the AD performance, and he’s still fine, its just these first two episodes have been some of my least favorite.
Star City- I’m also bored by this. Another case of pick a lane. Are you primarily a space age drama, or a KGB espionage thriller? I’m four episodes in, and I don’t care about anyone in this show, and that’s a problem. It hasn’t given me a clear character to root for, just one to root against as the head of the Russian intelligence is still the clear villain. Same AD as For All Mankind, which I believe is PixelLogic narrated by Darren Polish?
Crutch- I finished it! It premiered in November, but I finally watched the massive eight episode drop. Tracy Morgan’s family comedy is the weaker of his two sitcoms, but I think it still got a second season, from what I’ve found. The AD here is solid for a multi-cam sitcom.
Marshals- The typical Taylor Sheridan narration as Casey is visited by another member from his squad back in the day. This was obviously renewed. I can’t remember the last time Taylor Sheridan had a one-season wonder that wasn’t supposed to be a limited series like Bass Reeves.
The best AD was probably Spider-Noir, with the worst being Detective Hole for being the only one of the six with synthetic voice.
