TV Shows Watched: House Of The Dragon: S3E3 (HBO MAX) with audio description, For All Mankind: S5E10 (Apple) with audio description, Will Trent: S4E13 (Disney Plus) with audio description, Berlin: S2E4 (Netflix) with audio description, and Dutton Ranch: S1E7 (Paramount) with audio description

House Of The Dragon- I’m not a giant fan of opening credits that have no credits, and are just the images being described, but damn if House Of The Dragon doesn’t make good use of its title sequence. Roy Samuelson does a lovely job bringing that section to life.The second best part is a spoiler reveal, but Lumiere would have been appalled at the hospitality. That’s what the song is about, Queen Reniera. Speaking of, I have really been enjoying Emma Darcy’s performance this season. They’ve done their best work so far in just a few episodes.

For All Mankind- Another time jump at the end of this season, and there is one notable character death, but I’d argue likely more than one, because that time shift is likely to age another character out of the show. But, overall, this season was not my favorite, but much stronger than I thought it would be when they let one of their last two original characters go early in the season. I wasn’t sure the series could survive without him, and while the best days were behind us, with probably Season 3 being my favorite, there’s a lot left to like here heading into its final season. The audio description, except for a scene in Episode 9, was solid all the way. I love this series, and it certainly opened up a big new world for Season 6.

Will Trent- Amanda’s mini-arc comes to a conclusion as the team investigates use of force and stand your ground. Will is a little utilitarian here, and his case isn’t really advanced, but he’s been weird all season anyway. I don’t love season 4, but I do love that the audio description improved, and once again, Roy Samuelson narrates.

Berlin- I don’t love the show. Maybe because I never sat through Money Heist, but Berlin does occasionally pop when it is focused on the actual heist. Sometimes its ensemble gets lost a bit. The description here is done by Vito De Phillipppo, and I try not to immediately react negatively every time i hear his voice. This is one of his better tracks? I’ll stick with that.

Dutton Ranch- Beulah has a reckoning coming her way, and Jai Courtney is settling into his role rather well. What on earth is up with Carter? This is typical Taylor Sheridan description from Media Access, and it’s still pretty great. I think this is Peter Jaycock, and he sounds so perfect for Sheridan’s brand of homesteader porn. They have to let Beth Dutton be free though. Do something with her. Give her a match to light a fire.

Best? I didn’t hate anything today, and Dragon probably has the highest degree of difficulty, but Mankind and even Dutton Ranch also have their moments. Berlin is the worst, but just compared to the other four. On a different day, it is better than some other shows Vito has done, and I hate that he’s on nemesis.
