Silo: The parallel between Charlotte and Juliet as they both have lost their memories across each timeline, and in our primary timeline, what Juliet is trying to do about it, and how dangerous it may be for everyone if she does remember, versus Charlotte’s brother trying to guide her through remembering, but that pushy reporter demanding the truth. I didn’t find any problems with the audio description. I thought it was solid the whole way through.
Vladimir- My God this show feels like it has so many episodes. The Professor finally gets her solo outing with Vlad, and things get weird. There’s a nice line drawn between what she’s doing, and what the girls at her husband’s trial say he did. The AD here is great too, with all the little flashes of sexual desire thrown in. If I remember correctly, it was DVW narrated by Jabari Grey, but I could be wrong.
St Dennis Medical- Bruce Juice sounds like something else entirely, but I love Bruce, and I wish this show, and Ghosts, both were watched by Emmy voters. David Alan Grier does some nice work trying to play nice while his son visits. The AD here is meh. It often is, because the show is full of dialogue. It does try to toss a few things in, but it can’t help but feel underwhelming unless you only watch sitcoms.
Young Sherlock- Man, this series destroys its potential quickly. The final episode wraps up this season, but mistakenly decides it needs to start sewing seeds of mistrust between Sherlock and Moriarty, which is a mistake to make at the end of your first season. Have enough self respect and confidence in the art you make to believe you’ll make a satisfying multi-season arc, that slowly pulls these two apart, instead of the rather abrupt bullshit they start to throw in at the end. The AD here is great though, especially in certain moments. Man, Mycroft did NOT want Sherlock to take that key. What’s up with that? I’m far more interested in that than in the Moriarty stuff. Already renewed.
Scrubs- JD is visited by Dr Cox, who he seeks approval from on how well the interns are doing. In reality, the episode sets up a reality check in this relationship, as Dr Cox finally needs medical attention from JD. I’m wondering where this story will go. The AD here is more inadequate than St Dennis Medical, but Scrubs also does a lot of cutaways.
The Wonderfully Weird World Of Gumball- I’m almost done with Season 1, and Season 2 is already out. I had to mention episode 19, because it is so weird. it is a gym class episode, and Gumball has reservations about the rock wall, but as the episode progresses, he eventually finds the naked confidence to do all the rock and rope climbing. The AD here, which is Deluxe, narrated by Darren Rivets, is really good. When Gumball is running around naked, they made sure to let us know his privates were blurred out, and described a montage of him running around while his friends react. Why is this better than X-Men 97?
Matlock- Season Finale. No new episodes until next year, literally, as Matlock is being held for midseason. Maddie finally closes the door on the main case that has fueled the first two seasons, opening the door to a very different Season 3, with a bit more honesty, and characters in the mix. The rumors on Season 3 are a bit thin, just confirming a time jump, and the new scenario. The producers have been a bit cagey on Sarah’s reaction, as well as Evelyn, and its not known if Hunter, who recurred in Season 2, will be upped to regular for Season 3, or vanish with the time jump and structure change. I love Maddie’s husband in this. We should all be so lucky. He is like relationship goals realized. That scene where he just looks at Maddie as she drunkenly sleeps was so sweet, and brought out so well by Media Access Group.
