The Westies- If you like mafia style crime dramas, and have MGM Plus, you should be watching this. The second episode follows the gang as they try and make it look like a guy they whacked went on a crime spree before vanishing, but things don’t go quite as smoothly, and John Gotti gets suspicious. This series has a ton of potential. For the AD, the track is fine, but this is an amazingly optimistic narrator on a gritty crime drama.I want human AD, but I also want these companies to think about who they hire for what. It isn’t even necessarily performative, as some people just have certain tones in their voice. I’m not sure he’s the best fit for the series, but it is a small thing overall.

Widows Bay- Tom talks to a man he thought was dead, who believes the curse will break if they can just get him far enough away from the island. Since there’s a Season 2 coming, obviously, things don’t go according to plan. This series doesn’t always trend in the realm of comedy, but there’s one moment where Tom is holding something, and then realizes what it is covered in and tries to Cooley wipe his hands that I was amused by. The AD here is fine.

XO Kitty- One of the better tracks. LJ returns to help Kitty and bake her cookies, as the gang thinks about their future, and Mino wonders if he should get back with Kitty. DVW does this track, and they use multiple voices for the description and subtitle translation. Shockingly, Netflix hasn’t picked the show up yet for a fourth season.

Sheriff Country- Cassidy is abducted by a serial killer, and the team rushes to find her in time. I thought it was a really good showcase for Michelle Weaver, who plays Cassidy. She has some flashback stuff that digs into past trauma, some stuff with her sister, and she has to be resilient in captivity to save herself and another. A solid episode with decent audio description from Media Access Group.

Daemons Of THe Shadow Realm- A bit of a flashback heavy episode, looking into the past, which results when an old friend finally wanders up to where everyone is now hanging out. The AD by Global 3 is TTS and well written. As always.

The Comeback- The AD on this show is awful. The episode has Val doing a bunch of falls for comedy, and they miss so much in description. An easy loser for the day in terms of AD, though this show continues to be brilliant. Lisa Kudrow is perfection.

Life Larry and the Pursuit Of Unhappiness- The new Larry David show is funny if you never saw Drunk History, or Mel Brooks’s History Of The World (the movie). People have done this better before. David isn’t unfunny, but often his comedy veers away from satire, and too much into his brand of curbing enthusiasm. Consider it curbed. The AD was fine, I have no complaints.

The Daily Show- Jon of course hits me with the stuff at the beginning, but I lucked out and got Christopher Nolan as a guest. I never need to hear Jon Stewart try to sound academic or enthusiastic about Homer’s The Odyssey and its themes, as it was rather painful, but Nolan was fun.

Best AD? XO Kitty. Worst? The Comeback. Even with The Daily Show having No AD, and Daemons having a TTS voice, it really is that bad. Even for its format, it remains woefully inadequate.
