The Tutor

Where I Watched it: Netflix Where I Feel Like i Watched It: My nightmares English Audio Description?: No Netflix and i aren’t speaking to each other right now. After everything we’ve been through, and all these years of my subscribing, I got both an email and push notification suggesting that I would like this. Netflix was wrong. And, worse yet, it doesn’t even have audio description. The algorithm can’t even figure out how to recommend titles with audio description to me. Nevertheless, this film is inherently stupid. This is a cut to the chase review, which will involve me spoiling … Continue reading The Tutor

Well, after intense pressure, Jeopardy pushed back the Tournament Of Champions they were planning to do without their writing staff, who are currently on strike. So, good for them. I also happened to look ahead at August, which broke my heart. Why are all the best shows ending this year? Breeders, Reservation Dogs, and Archer all return for their final seasons in August. 8) American Born Chinese (Disney Plus) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Not Yet Renewed The scene between Michelle Yeoh and Stephanie Szu was the best moment, but this show still feels so disconnected with these different storylines, and … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 07/25/23

Just a small note to kick us off today, if you happened to be one of those fans who loved Grease: Rise Of The Pink Ladies, and were broken when paramount Plus cancelled the series and dropped it, good news! It is getting a physical media release. So you can own it forever and ever. No word on if the audio description will follow it to the DVD release. 11) Futurama (Hulu) English Audio Description?: No Status: revival (Season 11) is now available. So I’m still on Season 2. It’s gonna take me a while to get to 11. The … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 07/24/23

I read that George RR Martin’s deal with HBo has been suspended, and I wonder why. Is he a member of the WGA? There’s another GOT show in early development, and i would think they’d still need him for house of The Dragon, which I last heard was still shooting in England. 13) Skull Island (Netflix) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Not yet Renewed This one for me just comes down to the voice cast, and what is this show trying to do, and what does it want to be? I felt that Jurassic World: camp Cretaceous managed to have … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 07/23/23

It’s Way Too Early: The Best Picture Contenders

This years race is certainly shaping up. We likely have seen at least 1 Best Picture nominee already, probably three or four. if the strike continues, that list will only grow. Already, there is a rumor mill around Dune part 2 shifting to 2024. Not being able to take the stars to Comic Con hurt, as Dune isn’t really a festival film. But even the festival films are struggling, with films possibly lacking their stars to promote their films. Challengers did have the major opening spot at one of the major festivals, but without Zendaya, they decided to not debut … Continue reading It’s Way Too Early: The Best Picture Contenders

Mr Saturday Night: The musical

Where I Watched It: BroadwayHD English Audio Description?: No I have been already regularly calling out material from the obvious targets and victims, regularly targeting Netflix, Amazon, hulu, Paramount Plus, Peacock, Apple Plus, Disney plus, MAX, as well as free services like FreeVee, Roku, and Tubi, not to mention the second tier AMC Plus. I need to keep expanding. So, expect more reviews from me on these streamers aimed at niche audiences, or other services that should be offering it. i think it’s important to talk about why accessibility should just be for the blockbuster mainstream, but that just like … Continue reading Mr Saturday Night: The musical

Not sure I have any mind blowing TV news.Oh, it would appear there is a new episode of invincible on Prime for anyone who missed out on that push notification yesterday. I’m assuming it’s something they got at Comic Con. 11) Young Sheldon (MAX) English audio Description?: Yes Status: Renewed I didn’t really watch anything I didn’t like yesterday. Sheldon just lost because it wasn’t a standout episode. Sheldon saw himself as an old soul, and was disappointed when he realized he’s just a kid… and can’t date an adult. Episode Grade: B 10) 8 Simple Rules (Disney Plus) English … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 07/22/23

40 For 40: Part 2

Keeping in line with my 40th birthday this year, here is the second list of films I watched. I’m trying to cast a wide net and bring in multiple streamers, but peacock refuses to host audio description for Universal titles not made in the last 3 years. So just like the first ten, one of these does not have audio description. This list spans films I saw over June and July, so it is possible that some have left the service listed. While there are numbers, this is not a rank of my favorites from best to worst, but rather … Continue reading 40 For 40: Part 2

Where I Watched it: Netflix Audio Description Provided By Deluxe Narrated By Roland Baer God help the outcasts, am i right? This film is stupid, but let’s talk about that audio description first. I’m not a fan. I rarely ever come down on a narrator or description team, but this audio description doesn’t know what to do. Granted, neither does the film, but there are some key moments in which the audio description could have been better. This is a dinosaur movie of sorts, but aside from knowing what a T-Rex looks like, basically the other dinosaurs are just described … Continue reading 65

We have some news finally out of comic con. In The Walking Dead Universe, The Walking Dead: Dead City and Daryl Dixon both have gotten second season pickups. Meanwhile, Amazon was able to run a promo for the upcoming second season of Invincible, and Peacock showed off the upcoming John Wick spinoff The Continental, which was originally being developed at Starz. Sadly, that last project is only 3 episodes. 11) The Full Monty (Hulu) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Limited The thing is, this show is just one of the growing trend of baffling revivals where people are brought back … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 07/21/23

The Outlaws

Where I Watched It: Netflix English Audio Description?: Yes The film that is lighting up the Netflix charts, I have a feeling, wouldn’t have done week in theatres. Despite that Adam devine is used perfectly in The Righteous Gemstones, his starring work in films seems to rely on a very specific thing he does. He’s stuck in playing a type, much like Melissa McCarthy or Rebel Wilson, and arguably Chris Farley was in his day. Devine might play characters who are kind and good hearted, but somehow, they are the butt of all the jokes. It’s a problem that Adam … Continue reading The Outlaws

In TV News, FX’s new Alien show is starting filming despite the SAG strike. I’m assuming they have some principal photography they can be doing, and probably are using some non-union talent. 11) Clarissa Explains it All (Paramount Plus) English Audio Description?: No Status: Ended Why is Clarissa’s dad hanging out with Sam and going to the mall with just Sam? Man, my childhood was a simpler time. Dude has two kids, but he’s bonding with Clariss’as friend who presumably has parents. Not really the point of this episode, but that was my takeaway. Episode Grade: C+ 10) All In … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 07/20/23

Rock Hudson: All That Heaven Allowed

Where I Watched it: MAX English Audio Description provided By Point360 Narrated By: Roy Samuelson Adding to the ever growing list of documentaries from this year centered around famous celebrities, we now have a Rock Hudson documentary. If you were born in the last 20 years, he was like the Matt Bomer of his day. Except, we all know Matt Bomer is gay, and Rock Hudson did his career from the closet. As a film buff, i was totally here for a documentary that focused on Rock and his career. I was hoping for some great insight, maybe learning about … Continue reading Rock Hudson: All That Heaven Allowed

NBC announced some solid news items yesterday. Apparently, they were the only smart network, and actually have episodes banked. So, in the fall, new episodes of Magnum PI, Quantum Leap, and two new dramas, Found, and The Irrational will be airing opposite reality shows and reruns from other networks. 12) The Golden Girls (Hulu) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Ended I’m not going to deep dive this episode, but the direct answer is that this episode wouldn’t exist in todays landscape. Sure, someone will point out that deep inside the barrage of offensive jokes is a heart somewhere, which is … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 07/19/23
