A Talent For Murder

John Stark

Never meet your idols, or in this case, never watch a movie about your idols. I think A Talent for Murder is probably a great example of how we can scour the diaries of famous artists, writers, historians, politicians, and so on, looking for some of the more contentious figures to bring to the screen, revealing to the world just what kind of people they really were. Even if they weren’t necessarily public figures who demanded attention, especially those who passed away before the rise of social media, a lot of their personal viewpoints managed to get swept under many … Continue reading A Talent For Murder

FairPlay

John Stark

Where I Watched it: Netflix English Audio Description?: Yes Netflix acquired this sexy thriller out of Sundance, and it is one of those extremely on the outer ring Oscar bait films that might get a few mentions here and there, so this is possibly not the last time you will hear of this. Not only did I need multiple headset replacements, but the headset audio quality sounded like laura Post was talking to me from beyond the grave. I get better quality and consistency at home. I … Continue reading Oppenheimer

John Stark

Where I Watched it: peacock English Audio Description?: Yes I’m a fan of Elizabeth Banks as an actress, but as a director, she’s a bit more hit or miss. I’m not sure Cocaine Bear is going to put her on the map, but it could be a big bright new lane for her. Apparently there’s a thread of truth in this movie, just enough to make it “based on a true story”. It feels like the closest thing I’ve had to the self-awareness of Snakes On A Plane probably since The Happytime Murders. Something that knows exactly how absurd it … Continue reading Cocaine Bear
