The fact that I’m hearing that the SAG AMPTA negotiations are being held up over AI really tells me all I need to know about the studios positions. I do hope SAG does not waiver on their counter to many of the terrible ideas these studios were proposing, including owning an actors likeness in perpetuity, simply because they showed up as an extra for one day. Well, that was a lot faster the next time around. Friday The 13th was a very unlucky day for one show. Apple pulled the plug on The After Party after two seasons. I’m not really sure why. It always baffles me when a show I see having a strong social media presence among the people in my feed gets cancelled, because it seems so rare that they ever bother to post about shows. but, while the new season was running, I had friends who were really into it. SAG-AFTRA is now in the negotiation phase. My great hope for them is that they shut the AI shit down entirely. Well, the WGA has recommended that writers end the strike officially, so things will be written again. I don’t expect to see the fruition of this until next year, except in talk shows, but it happened. The strike has been going on for a lot longer than the studios thought they would. That’s for sure. I haven’t seen another movie abandon ship from 2023 yet. Definitely some big TV news yesterday. Kevin Costner’s perpetual temper tantrum has turned into this being the final season of Yellowstone. However, they are planning on doing a sequel spinoff series starring Matthew McConaughey and many of the current Yellowstone cast. Also cancelled is CBS’s 6 season success story SWAT, which was cancelled over money squabbling between CBS and Sony.
