The Equalizer 3

I don’t know why this is the one film Denzel Washington feels emotionally attached to that he keeps making sequels. The first film was fine. Gritty, he kicked ass, and equalized. Now, somehow he’s in Europe protecting Dakota Fanning and some Italians, and I’m really not sure how we got here. It’s like they are trying to apply the rule of John Wick to the Equalizer, but he works much better as a Luke Cage figure, who defends his own neighborhood than going global. Wick needed to stop a global organization, I’m not sure that fits here. Still, the first … Continue reading The Equalizer 3

Malcolm X (1992)

Where I Watched it: HBo MAX English Audio Description?: no Just like I did with White Men Can’t Jump, I watched Malcolm X with the intention of filling in a gap in the 1992 titles I’d seen, and hopefully knock out some that were aimed at a different target demo in 1992. But these are my predictions for the Oscars that are being presented on Sunday. Yes, this Sunday. BEST PICTURE: The Power Of The Dog Despite the internet Oscar experts shitting bricks after Coda won the PGA award in this category, I know it is used as a barometer for predicting the winner in this category, and to be fair, i think Coda is in the #2 spot. The Tragedy Of MacBeth

Starring: Denzel Washington, Frances McDormand, Katherine Hunter, Brendan Gleeson, Corey Hawkins, Stephen Root, and Sean Patrick Thomas. Directed By: Joel Coen Where I Watched It: Apple TV Plus English Audio Description Available?: Yes The Plot: Unfortunately, this film is not Denzel Washington haunting any daring stage actor who has the courage to say MacBeth instead of “The Scottish Play”. Instead, this is just Shakespeare’s text of Macbeth (Washington) a Scottish lord who becomes convinced that he can make a power grab after consulting with witches (Hunter), and with the full support of his wife (McDormand). What Works: It’s Shakespeare’s text, … Continue reading The Tragedy Of MacBeth
