Where I watched It: Netflix English Audio Description Provided By: International Digital center Written By: Dakota Green Cast: Jennifer Garner, Ed Helms, Emma Myers, Brady Noon, and Rita Moreno. Written By: Victoria Strauss Directed By: McG Let’s hit that audio description first. Dakota Green’s script for the audio description is the smart way to go. Instead of trying to follow the absurdity of a six way Freaky Friday, she decides that when the character’s soul, if you will, moves from one body into another, after a little bit of explaining it, you realize that the character name has moved to … Continue reading Family Switch

The Golden Globe nominations came out and several TV shows managed to work their way onto the list. But, mostly Succession. 1) Bodies (Netflix) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Limited I’m enjoying the mystery of it all, but my complaint is the same. Even as the story impresses me, there are too many damn characters across too many timelines, and these episodes feel crammed and jumbled. I shouldn’t always be wondering who the hell someone is. but, every episode so far, I either wonder who they are, or what timeline we are in. Episode Grade: B+ 2) Billions (Paramount Plus) … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 12/11/23

NBC has decided to stick with its Freshmen dramas Found and The Irrational for a second season. Hopefully, they stick with Quantum Leap as well. Especially if they are sticking with the incredibly formulaic Irrational. 1) Chucky (Peacock) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Still going You know, in the season 2 finale, when Chucky starts reading about the silent chainsaw… I knew we were going to see that in action. I did not think it would be used in the way that it was. And for so long. Jesus. A bit much even for this show. That Caroline part was … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 11/29/23

Dancing With The Stars certainly took the magic of Disney night to max corporate synergy. Meanwhile, some top Hollywood talent are meeting with the SAG negotiations to see what’s up. Oh, I don’t know… the studios don’t want to negotiate? 12) World On Fire (PBS) English Audio Description?: No Status: Unknown I assumed this was a limited series the first time around, but PBS brought it back apparently without Helen hunt, and far more conversations not in English. This is a war drama with a lot of subtitles I can’t read, so much like AMC Plus’s Daryl Dixon, it is … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/17/23

RIP Dumbledore. I loved both Richard Harris and Michael Gambon’s takes on Dumbledore, and since there is virtually nothing worth discussing in the world of TV and Film news, I’ll use my preamble area to mention the passing of Michael Gambon. 11) Alias (Disney Plus) English Audio Description?: No Status: Ended Come on Disney! Put some audio description on it! This show always has some kind of action sequence set to music. As much as I love this show, it’s hard to keep ranking it dead last as unwatchable all the time because it is an action show with scenes … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup: 09/28/23

No big TV news, so I’ll use my intro spot to announce that Lily Gladstone, the one-time front runner for Best Supporting Actress, has now flipped and decided to run for Lead Actress. We now call this “Pulling a Michelle Williams.” Hopefully she dominates the movie, because she is now competing in films where the lead Actress is in a film clearly about them. 10) Alias (Disney Plus) English Audio Description?: No Status: Ended I’m still saying that this show is too action oriented to not have audio description. However, the second episode did have more dialogue. And, if you … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 09/19/23

Finally! Some TV news. I don’t know which is bigger. Lando has been elevated from a Disney plus series to a full fledged movie, so you can no longer expect it to come to Disney Plus (until after its theatrical run), and Netflix has picked One Piece up for a second season. The latter is kinda of a big deal considering their past anime adaptations haven’t made it to a second season (RIP Cowboy Bebop). Also, Netflix finds it appropriate to release yet another major international title without accessibility for their blind and visually impaired users so I’m considering doing … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 09/14/23

Today, i plan on attending a virtual conference held by the ACB and the Audio Description project, in which I will get to hear representatives from streaming services talk about their commitment to Audio Description. I’m a little intrigued by Paramount Plus/Showtime, but I’m super excited to hear Hulu talk about how ‘committed” they are. Girl, you can’t even get AD onto a Hulu original like The Clearing. Come on now. 14) Ripley (PBS) English Audio Description?: No? Status: I don’t care. Honestly, I sat down with my mom as she was trying to watch the first episode of this … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 06/21/23

Well, some good news dropped for two shows. Netflix went ahead and gave XO Kitty a second season, and Apple has officially renewed Silo. Always nice to start off the roundup with some good news. 11) Mulligan (Netflix) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Not Yet Renewed it’s not that this was bad, it’s that everything else was better. I’m enjoying the Senator character, and jokes like Mulligan thinking he can find the National Treasure like that Nic Cage film. but I think, especially on a day where I watched an episode of Futurama, that this show is still struggling to … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 06/14/23

Well, Showtime just cancelled a show that premiered over a year ago. I think we all saw that coming. Generally, if you hit that year mark, and you haven’t heard anything… it’s not going to be good news. 11) Futurama (Hulu) English Audio Description?: No Status: Revived A weird day. I enjoyed pretty much everything I watched, but in the great struggle, the show without AD lost the war. Fry drinks an alien leader which is bad news for him. And he and Leela have a falling out. But, it all works out in the end for our Marty mcFly … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 06/07/23

American idol crowned a winner last night. I’m watching it today. I know who won, and thank God. 15) Drops Of God (Apple Plus) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Unknown This was an odd duck of a series.I’m not even really sure I understand what the show is about. There was a lot of focus on being able to taste really specific flavors immediately, and perhaps becoming a sommelier. But, I think of the new shows I watched, I enjoyed this one the least. It didn’t really establish to me what it wanted to be, and instead tried almost an … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 05/21/23

Starring: Ryan Reynolds, Walker Scobell, Jennifer Garner, Mark Ruffalo, Zoe Saldana, and Catherine Keener. Directed By: Shawn Levy Where I Watched It: Netflix English Audio Description Available?: Yes The Plot: Adam (Reynolds) is from the year 2050, in a world where time travel is possible. But, in order to solve a tragic mystery, Adam must travel back and team up with his younger self (Scoville), who is still dealing with the rather recent death of their father, in order to prevent the villain (Keener) from achieving her endgame.
