Oh Canada

Oh, Canada- Richard Gere, Uma Thurman, Jacob Elordi, Paul Schrader Quick Take: Another screener without audio description. Paul Schrader, whose last film I also did not have audio description for (Master Gardener) is back with Richard Gere, Uma Thurman, and Jacob Elordi for a Wes Anderson adjacent look at a man who was a draft dodger. There’s some quirky quality in interviewing the man as an older man (Gere), and seeing him in flashbacks as his younger self (Elordi). However, even though Schrader occasionally knocks films out of the park, which gets me interested, it does seem like his last … Continue reading Oh Canada

The Runaway Bride: 25th Anniversary

Even though I’m pleased to report that this film has audio descritpion on Paramount Plus, it does always strike me as to what titles do and don’t. This title especially, because the audio description track sounds like it was made at least 10+ years ago, and with the way audio description tracks rarely travel, it was a pleasant surprise to see that this was something that someone had maintained this track. Runaway bride is not a significant classic, but it was quite the hype of its time, … Continue reading The Runaway Bride: 25th Anniversary

An Officer And A Gentleman

Love lift me up! Yes, this is part of a series where I’ve been crunching some Oscar films that I hadn’t seen before. I always assumed this was a romantic drama that I’d get around to if I felt like it. The romantic part is the least interesting thing about this film. the most interesting? It has audio description right now on MAX! Also, I had no idea Taylor Hackford (Ray, Ant-Man) directed this. It’s a shame that Richard Gere wasn’t nominated, and when it comes time to revisit this year, I hope I have finally seen enough content to … Continue reading An Officer And A Gentleman

Maybe I Do

Where I Watched it: hulu English Audio Description?: No What do you get when you pair Richard Gere, Diane Keaton, Susan Sarandon, William H. Macy, Ema Roberts, and Jake Lacy together in one film? You should get something amazing. Honestly, there is no real excuse. however, in the directorial debut from Michael Jacobs, who worked lot as a producer in the 90’s on shows like boy Meets World, we got the equivalent of a student film. i know this was probably made on favors and handshakes, and the bulk of the budget went to talent, but there’s no real excuse … Continue reading Maybe I Do
