As yesterday was July 4th, you can probably guess that there wasn’t any big TV news. Biggest thing was that Daniel Radcliffe said he has no plans to appear in the Harry Potter TV series. I wouldn’t be too worried about that response. He is on miracle Workers, so he is comfortable doing TV. The Too Much TV Roundup- 06/29/23

After The Other Two dropped their big bomb yesterday, Reservation Dogs followed them with the exact same announcement, that the 3rd season will be it’s last. I remember when most shows wanted to hit season 4 because it put syndication into play, but with shows no longer running 22 episode seasons, there’s no need for that. Reservation Dogs would need nine seasons to get to that point. Also, ABC is sticking with Home Economics a little bit longer. Yesterday, I had the awesome opportunity to attend a panel at the American Concil of the Blind’s virtual conference presented by the Audio Description Project that featured reps from the major streaming services, all of whom came to talk about just how committed they are, without actually putting a number on that commitment. In the slow world of TV news, networks are starting to assume that they won’t have scripted programs for the Fall, and are once again leaning on reality series. NBC just ordered a new Wild Kingdom show for the fall. Well, talk about yesterday being a slow news day. Like, nothing major or earth shattering happened. It was just a regular day. I watched something on the same day it got picked up for another season. This proves that shows can still be picked up during the writers strike, so I’d love it if ABC could go ahead and pick up Home Economics (and make Casey Wilson a series regular), and NBC can pick up American Auto.
