Dorian TV Awards Winners Announced! ‘Hacks’ and ‘The Pitt’ Take Honors

Among the other things I do, I am a proud member of GALECA: The Society for LGBTQ Film Journalists, so naturally, I should announce the winners of the awards I voted for. for those who follow my small Screen diaries, you’ll note my finger is on the absolute pulse, as it also is for the many critics and entertainment journalists who voted in these awards. With Emmy nominations only days away, will these serve as a bell weather for things to come on that front as well? GALECA is the 2nd largest Entertainment Journalist organization in the world, boasting over 560 … Continue reading Dorian TV Awards Winners Announced! ‘Hacks’ and ‘The Pitt’ Take Honors

As yesterday was July 4th, you can probably guess that there wasn’t any big TV news. Biggest thing was that Daniel Radcliffe said he has no plans to appear in the Harry Potter TV series. I wouldn’t be too worried about that response. He is on miracle Workers, so he is comfortable doing TV. If the show is good, I’m sure he’d join it. 12) Dinosaurs (Disney Plus) English Audio Description?: No Status: Ended Robbie is left to babysit the baby. Hilarity ensues. Episode Grade: B- 11) Family Matters (MAX) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Ended Urkel appearance. But, Laura … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 07/04/23

After The Other Two dropped their big bomb yesterday, Reservation Dogs followed them with the exact same announcement, that the 3rd season will be it’s last. I remember when most shows wanted to hit season 4 because it put syndication into play, but with shows no longer running 22 episode seasons, there’s no need for that. Reservation Dogs would need nine seasons to get to that point. Also, ABC is sticking with Home Economics a little bit longer. A huge show of good faith, the network has extended the contracts for the cast while waiting decision on a renewal. I … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 06/29/23

Yesterday, I had the awesome opportunity to attend a panel at the American Concil of the Blind’s virtual conference presented by the Audio Description Project that featured reps from the major streaming services, all of whom came to talk about just how committed they are, without actually putting a number on that commitment. I’m committed to cleaning my room. When? How often? I’m committed. So I didn’t watch as many shows. But on the plus side, hulu is moving forward with a second season of nine Perfect Strangers, which should be fun since they already used all the strangers from … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 06/22/23

In the slow world of TV news, networks are starting to assume that they won’t have scripted programs for the Fall, and are once again leaning on reality series. NBC just ordered a new Wild Kingdom show for the fall. So instead of watching the OneChicago lineup, you get the same thing you’d get with any other nature documentary. 12) Trophy Wife (Hulu) English Audio Description?: No Status: Ended This one is tough, because I basically enjoyed everything I watched yesterday. Trophy Wife doesn’t have audio description, and some of the moments were a bit cringe. The kids were working on … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 06/15/23

Well, talk about yesterday being a slow news day. Like, nothing major or earth shattering happened. It was just a regular day. If I pulled some news out, just a sliver of news, I guess I could say that I realized the second season of Swagger drops at the end of the month. 10) Dave (FX/Hulu) English Audio Description?: Yes Honestly, i feel like after that music video episode, Dave hasn’t been able to quite hit that level of perfection in the subsequent two episodes. That episode was something else. Episode 4 was just boring. Episode Grade: C 9) Young … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 06/08/23

I watched something on the same day it got picked up for another season. This proves that shows can still be picked up during the writers strike, so I’d love it if ABC could go ahead and pick up Home Economics (and make Casey Wilson a series regular), and NBC can pick up American Auto. That’s really all I need. 14) Clone High Original (MAX) English Audio Description?: No Status: Revived Still going back through the original episodes, and the second one revives around running for class president, and Abe versus JFK. I get that there’s this Afterschool Special vibe … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 06/01/23

I did not plan this today. But i watched a new episode of Citadel the same day Amazon greenlit a second season. So that is my big TV news story to rock your world this morning. 12) All In The Family (FreeVee) English audio Description?: No Status: Ended Other than remembering Rob Reiner yelling about his Polish heritage at one point, my sleep last night completely erased what this episode was about. Occasionally that’s a problem with a show when i watch this much stuff in one day.
