The Marvels box office is not just reflective of Marvel fatigue, but also the impact of the strike. Two of the films lead characters are being played by rising stars from Disney plus shows, and were unable to promote the film. Disney should have pushed this back, and now they have their lowest opening ever. 9) Name That Tune (Hulu) English Audio Description?: No Status: Unknown honestly, just the most underwhelming episode. Jeff Ross knew all the songs until he got to the final, and then Tig knew all the songs, yet somehow Nicole ended up in the finale. Baffling. … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 11/10/23

Well, I suppose the studios weren’t ready to accept SAG’s proposal, so they sent back a counter. Honestly, these companies needing to win this AI battle is pissing me off. Stop trying to own a person’s likeness, especially without informed consent, and certainly not in perpetuity. Also, the new trailer for Echo dropped, and it’s going to be TV-MA. 9) The Gold (Paramount Plus) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Limited? in what should have been a movie, we slowly build to the police making their case and being able to arrest people for the heist. Episode Grade: B- 8) Strange … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 11/03/23

The writers struck for minimums in writers rooms, and I guess The CW’s All American Homecoming and Superman and Lois had rooms above the new increased minimum, so they are firing some to reduce costs and shrinking the writers rooms. Let’s be honest, The CW is on life support in its current state. 9) Justified (Hulu) English Audio Description?: No Status: Ended I gotta give Raylon’s dad props. When i first met Arlo in Season 1, I never expected to see him still kicking around in Season 4, but here he is. Mainly, people still want to take down Boyd, … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/27/23

The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/20/23

I’m not sure anything major happened in the realm of television yesterday, but I will mention that MAX is rushing The Nun 2 onto the service before Halloween. I was pretty busy, so it’s a short list today. 5) 5) Shelter (Amazon) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Not Yet Renewed These shows where adults unleash massive conspiracies where teens have to uncover and save the day is just a very odd thing we do in film and television. This show is a lot for these kids. I honestly found more enjoyment in the Phantom auditions, although I call shenanigans. The … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/20/23

Friday The 13th was a very unlucky day for one show. Apple pulled the plug on The After Party after two seasons. I’m not really sure why. It always baffles me when a show I see having a strong social media presence among the people in my feed gets cancelled, because it seems so rare that they ever bother to post about shows. but, while the new season was running, I had friends who were really into it. And I can’t say that for most of Apple plus’s programming (even if I’m a fan). 12) Justified (Hulu) English Audio Description?: … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/13/23

I don’t know how I missed the drama, but Starz apparently cancelled Heels, and almost immediately removed the show from its service. There was a notable campaign on Twitter to shame Starz for cancelling the series. honestly, with Outlander in its final season, if they don’t start figuring out their programming, they’ll be the Power network, and it’ll be hard to get people attracted to new shows who aren’t watching Power spinoffs. 11) Justified (Hulu) English Audio Description?: No Status: Ended People get shot at in this episode, and it’s tough to figure out who and when, since there’s no … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/06/23

Where I Watched It: Netflix Audio Description Provided by: The Media Access Group Narrated By: Adrienne Barbeaux Even though I skipped this in theatres, i always knew at some point I would have to watch this film. i got there eventually, and despite being a Guillermo Del Toro fan, this is possibly my least favorite project of his. Don’t get me wrong. I’m sure the film is gorgeous. Guillermo I always on point visually, and based on the exceptional description by Adrienne Barbeaux and her team at the Media Access Group, a very vivid and lush painting is laid out … Continue reading Crimson Peak

A solid day of television, even if most of it was just so-so, and some new shows start to make their appearance in my rotation. 1) Undone (Amazon) English Audio Description?: Yes Just as Amazon dropped the cancellation hammer on The Wilds (which i gave up on during its first season), I’m here to champion another one of their shows (which didn’t stop them from cancelling night Sky). Undone is one of the most original shows on television, for a myriad of reasons, from its use of rotoscope to its general outline involving time travel and these abilities that this … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- July 28th

The Too Much TV Roundup- July 23rd

Literally, the shortest list I’ve done so far. There’s actually almost no point to this list. That’s how sad it was. I was away from my television most of the day, obviously. 1) The Essex Serpent (Apple Plus) English Audio Description Available?: Yes In the 4th episode, I wanted to like this series more. Tom hiddleston seems really committed to not being Loki. Claire Danes is all about… something. There are things happening here that you could like. And it’s entirely possible that the entire point of this series is to showcase how entirely stupid people actually are. But, unlike … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- July 23rd

It seems like a lot of TV until you realize how many of these are actually half hour shows. 1) Girls5Eva (Peacock) English Audio Description Available?: Yes It takes a lot to dethrone my pick for Best Comedy, something that manages to elude Emmy voters (probably because it’s on Peacock). In the 7th episode, Wiki fell for a Lunch lord who she thought would be her basic whisperer and teach her the ways common folk think. Add to that an always a welcome appearance by Andrew Rannells, and a song that was basically just the girls asking each other if … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- July 17th
